This medical monastic tradition included the Hospitallers, the Wesleyan’s, the Grahamites, the nursing profession of deaconesses, old school medics, herbalists, and the apothecaries (natural pharmacy). During the renaissance, monastic medicine evolved into nature cure which migrated to the Americas through Father Sebastian Kneipp and Benedict Lust. What makes PanAm unique?

Founded in Florida, 1979, the PanAm school has been active ever since and is now has thriving campuses in Nevis West Indies and Ecuador. With such a legacy, PanAm has amassed the wealth of knowledge on natural medicines and is sanctioned to preserve such knowledge for humanity. As a diocese (monastery) of special ministry of the Church of the East, we preserve the very forms of monastic medicine that led to the development of today’s ‘naturopathy.’

Integrated medicine today is without doubt a spiritual based practice, taking on many forms. By definition, homeopathy, acupuncture, herbalism, mental healing, dietetics, and even chiropractic have spiritual underpinnings. Although clergy is generally exempt from medical purview, healers should be more than knowledgeable of today’s medical issues, now so entwined with established Health and Wellness Counseling.

Wellness counseling often requires sound medical judgment to communicants seeking resolve. In addition to our usual sacerdotal healing duties, such tasks as health screenings, nutritional advice, and hygiene, should be provided to patrons requiring medical support. This Hospitaller care, a millennia old tradition, is a dedicated choice for the duty bound.

Our Licentiate is an academic degree leading to licensure. By joining the Church of Hope, you become eligible for ecclesiastical license in a select special ministry of your choice: Sanctified Healer, Alimental Therapist, Aromatherapist, Electropathist, Balneotherapist, Chirothesist, Fitness Tutor, Herbalist, Homeopathist, Indigenous Healer, Natural Health Tutor, Radiaesthesthist, Reflexotherapist, or Wellness Tutor.

However, supplemental audio lectures with each course serve to inform students of relevant medical issues over a diverse range of problems and specialties. Such information allows the student to understand current issues and outcomes of standard medical practices. It is assumed that most graduates will work in harmony and/or partnership with medical specialists, allowing best outcomes for communicants. How does the Licentiate program work?

You first make application online. Upon acceptance you make an initial pledge and begin your online course work. Postulants have one year to complete the online courses. Each LNM course has self-evaluation quizzes which you complete entirely online. Pass/fail results are noted immediately in real time and recorded electronically in your records. Upon completion of each course you are sent a full Certificate of Completion (suitable for framing). As you progress, you make plans to attend your seminary and investiture graduation. These are scheduled throughout the year. You receive notifications by eNewsletters.

THE BASICS

PanAm has been lauded as the world's best and most complete Computer-Based Learning (CBL) resource on natural medicine with training opportunities on a variety of topics in more than 50 languages.

At the outset of each course, there are a series of written Lessons. Accompanying each lesson there is a self-evaluation quiz. Each Lesson and quiz is designed to be easily completed within 2 hours or less. The Lessons are designed to be didactic, meaning you can take the knowledge and apply it directly in your clinic or ministry. We do not emphasize rout memory, rather a heuristic approach, what we call ‘old school’ learning and earning.

PanAm is genuinely an ‘eclectic’ schooling. Meaning, the course content is made up of combining elements, concepts, and techniques from a variety of reputable and time honored sources. Eclectic medicine was a branch of American medicine which made use of botanical remedies along with nutritional substances and physical therapy practices. The bottom line in course content, is, what works, works! The basis of eclectic medical practice was the physician who not only practiced regular, rural medicine of the late 19th century, a monastic tradition, but also recognized vitalistic (spiritual) components to wellness. These practices are continued at our teaching facilities on Nevis

2

Island and in Ecuador, as well as our graduates spread throughout the world. Thus we can also provide the practical training aspects to teach what we preach!

Vitalistic medicine is found in all medical disciplines since time immemorial. In fact, we devout an entire course on this as part of our curriculum. It is found in herbalism, homeopathy, acupuncture, and even chiropractic. We also respect the more modern forms of nature cure such as hygienics, veganism, heliotherapy, fasting, etc. while respecting time honored therapies such as orthomolecular nutrition.

Seminaries are also held throughout the year as recommended supplements to your learning experience. Clinical residencies are also scheduled in Nevis 3-4 times annually.

All in all, PanAm is a full spectrum natural medical school respecting history while recognizing eclectic necessities in a world that is rapidly changing.

BOTTOM LINE: $2000 for the LNM program.

Apply and enroll: upon acceptance you pledge $500. You then make 10 monthly payments of $150 for the total of $2000. As you progress, you make your travel plans for attending one of our seminaries and investiture for your graduation. Those seminary fees and expenses (travel and lodging) are not included in the $2000 academic enrollment.

Seminaries are held Throughout the year

In the monastic medical tradition, one’s learning never ends. After graduation as Licentiate, the member may elect to move on to the online master’s and doctorate courses, equal in value, to (old school) medical studies.

Times have changed, but human suffering has not. Old school medicine was based on knowledge and common sense, whereas modern medicine, is based on technology, laboratory, radiology and economics. In fact, for most doctors, technology has become a crutch, a secular viewpoint, discarding the spiritual underpinnings of suffering, leading not to suffrage.

Old school doctors took medical histories, contemplated and observed, laid witness to family, station in life, and made best-choice rational decisions for positive outcomes. The axiom was ‘prescribe least, advise best.’ Today, secular doctors generally analyze papers, films, insurance policies, and economic outcomes, ignoring largely the spiritual aspects for best choices of the patient. The outpatient adage remains, ‘a pill for every ill.’

The Licentiate of the Sacred Medical Order can make vocational choice and progress on to the doctorate, by simply continuing the $150 monthly pledges after graduation. The student progresses at their own pace and may enroll in as many online courses as desired leading to graduation. We all agree, learning medicine is a life-long process. It is a dedicated spirit, a soulful will that makes one’s life vocation devoted to helping others.

The medical intern stays in personal contact with the Dean of the School and teaching residencies are scheduled to meet the student’s needs and deeds. We speak not of secular choices, but clerical vocation and devotion to learning the monastic medical healing arts.

The school offers an extraordinary source of online medical lectures (in English only) that provides a rich source ‘as if’ in medical school. These lectures provide the didactic resources, coupled with online Lessons in medical instruction.

Mastering the vast amount of information which is left to monastic and natural medical students in only two to four years of medical school is a formidable task. In the modern era, natural medicine physicians in training are called upon to master at least two systems – medicine and conventional primary care medicine.

Our Master’s programs serve as supplemental knowledge in such areas as cardiology, oncology, herbology, homeopathy, etc.

You make the Choice?

Should a time-honored vocation be lost?

Our world is now immersed in technology and electronic economics. Medical access has become equated insurance policies. Life has become a deductible.

In earlier times, the priest and physician were one. As humanity descended into the dark ages, the monasteries preserved the knowledge of the sages of medicine of earlier times, both East and West. The Church educated and licensed its doctors. It was monastic medicine that fostered the renaissance. For the centuries following, technology would foster democracy and secularism. Economic interests would take precedence. Today it dominates every aspect of life.

This School posits that the spiritual side of life cannot be ignored or discounted from medical practice. It is of vital interest in healing. The old school medicine must be preserved in the interests of humankind. We have become the 21st century spirit of monastic medicine.

Equally, we respect our surgical brotherhood, as technology has so dramatically evolved to provide human goodness. Thus, we respect two divisions – that of medicine and surgery, they are two respective but different fields of service. Ours is medicine. The priest and doctor should remain one!

Upon graduation as Doctor of Natural Medicine, the Council of the Sacred Order Medical Order confers the honorific title of Knighthood of 21st century chivalry. In the middle ages a knight was defined as a nobleman who served a king as a mounted man-of-arms; but today, a knight is used to refer to someone who has been honored for services and devotion to humanity and good deeds.
