AdmissionsTheschool,whichisco-educational,providesplacesforupto72childrenandyoungpeopleaged5to19.Theschoolisnon-denominationalandhasasecularethosbutrespectstheculturalneedsandreligiousbeliefsofallofourcommunity.Weareabletoofferplacestochildrenandyoungpeoplewhomeetthecriteriasetoutbelow.WecurrentlyreceivereferralsfromLocalAuthorities(education/socialcare),healthauthorities(PrimaryCareTrust/CAMHS),parents/carersandotherindependentprofessionals/bodies.

Statement/EducationHealthCarePlan(EHCP)EveryoneatUnderleyGardeniscommittedtoprovidingtheenvironmentandopportunitiestoenableallchildrenandyoungpeoplewithspecialeducationalneedstobeincluded,fully,inallaspectsofschoollife.Inordertomeetthespecialeducationalneedsofourchildrenandyoungpeoplewewilldevelop,implementandmonitorappropriateprogrammesforchildrenandyoungpeoplelinkedtotheirstatementorEHCPoutcomes.Weuseavarietyofteachingstylesandcaterfordifferentlearningstylestoallowchildrenandyoungpeopletoaccessthecurriculumandresourceseffectively.Ourhealthandtherapyteamworkcloselytogetherandincollaborationwithschool,parents/carersandotherprofessionalstoprovideaholisticapproachtointerventions.Therapytargetsareintegratedintotheschooldayandembeddedintotheircurriculums.Weendeavortoinvolveandinformtheparents/carersofchildrenandyoungpeoplesothatwecanworktogetherandensurethebestoutcomesforall.

CurriculumAtUnderleyGardenweensureaccesstothecurriculumareasthatarelistedintheIndependentSchoolStandards(2014).InaccordancewiththisweundertaketoprovideacurriculumthatmeetstheneedsofeachyoungpersonbasedonthetermsofthestatementofspecialeducationalneedsorEducationHealthCareplans(EHCP).Allchildrenandyoungpeoplereceivefull-timesupervisededucation,inwhichtheyexperienceacurriculumthatincludesarangeoflinguistic,mathematical,scientific,technological,humanandsocial,physical,aestheticandcreativeaspectsappropriatetotheirage,abilityandaptitude.Theseexperiencesaretaughtdependentontheneedsandabilitiesofthechildrenandyoungpeopleinavarietyofways.Theoverridingaimofthecurriculumistoachievethebestpossibleoutcomesforchildrenandyoungpeopleintermsofpersonalisedlearning,independence,personalgrowthanddevelopment.
