Learn about the best roses to select for this area, how to care for roses so they will thrive in your landscape, and the dos and don’ts of rose maintenance. Participants will each receive a copy of Growing Roses in Albuquerque. Medicinal Plant Walk March 10 • 2-3:30 p.m. Presenter: Dara Saville Engage in a casual walk discovering plants that heal in the native landscape and efforts to preserve some of our most vital medicinal plants like yerba mansa. Grape Leaf Harvesting April 11, 2:30-4 p.m. Presenter: Cottonwood Gulch Staff Jump into spring with some leaf-harvesting and learn how to sauté and preserve grape leaves as people have done for generations. Phenology Walk Along the Bosque April 22 • 4-5:30 p.m. Presenter: Liz Douglass-Gallaher Identify and record the emerging blossoms of the flowers and trees, and learn how they correlate with the birds and the bees. Gain an understanding of the beautiful interrelations in the world around and how communities can study climate change. Bosque Walk May 9 • 2:30-4 p.m. Join a master naturalist volunteer for a hike at Bachechi and in the bosque. Learn about various animals even if we do not find them on our hike. Bring a sense of adventure, binoculars if you have them, wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared to walk on uneven surfaces. Discover the fascinating world right outside your backyard and how you can take an active part in understanding, caring for and studying your environment.

Wild Plant Walk and Medicine MakingSept. 9 • 1-3 p.m.Presenter: Zoe NyeParticipate in a plant identification walk followed by a hands-on medicine making class which will follow the seasons, highlight seasonal medicines, and ecological activity. Bird Migration in New MexicoNov. 11 • 9-10:30 a.m.Fall skies are filled with birds migrating to New Mexico. Learn to recognize these temporary residences, how their journey leads them to the Rio Grande Valley, and the other places they call home.
