    EFFECTS OF WATER POLLUTION

Water pollution Aquatic organisms are endangered and may become extinct.

Pollutants will accumulate in the food chain and end up in the

    human body.

Causes eutrophication in the polluted rivers and lakes.

    EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution Smoke, dust and soot cause haze which leads to respiratory

problems and poses a danger to road users.

Acidic gases which dissolve in the rain will form acid rain which

destroys forests and the aquatic ecosystem.

Green house will cause global warming.

Also cause lung diseases and acid rain.

    EFFECTS OF THERMAL POLLUTION

There are several effects on thermal pollution :

    i. Bio indicators are the first to show the effects.

ii. Changes in economic and in environmental.

    iii. Changed dissolve oxygen.

    iv. Sudden increase in temperature.

    v. Decrease in productivity of the water body.

    EFFECTS OF RADIOACTIVE POLLUTION

Radioactive pollution The radioactive pollution is defined as the physical pollution of

air, water and the other radioactive materials.

The human being also receive the radiation and radiotherapy from

    x-rays.

It cause genetic disease such as cancer, growth disability and

    infertility.

    GREENHOUSE EFFECTS

The greenhouse effect is a process which thermal radiation from aplanetary surface is absorbed by atmospheric greenhouse gasesand is reradiated in all directions.

The greenhouse effects refers to circumstances where the short

wavelengths of visible light from the sun pass through a

transparent medium and are absorbed but the longer wavelengths

of the infrared re-radiation from the heated objects are unable to

    pass through that medium.

    OZONE LAYER

There are a few effects on environment and human beings from

the phenomena of the ozone layer :

    i. More skin cancers, sunburns and premature aging of the skin.

ii. Weakening of the human immune system.

iii. More cataracts, blindness and other eye diseases.

    ACID RAIN

Acid rain causes acidification of lakes and streams and contributes

to the damage of trees at high elevations and many sensitive forest

    soils.

Acid rain also accelerates the decay of building materials and

    paints.

Acid rain cause extinction of species, corrosion of man-made

    structures.

    HAZE

Haze contains dust and smoke particles.

Haze also contains air pollutants such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen

oxide, ozone, carbon monoxide and particulate matter.

People with history of sinus problems or sensitive nose are likely

to develop nasal congestion, sore throat and coughing.

The local effects of the haze can result in eye, nose and throat

    irritation.
