The First Invention

Thomas Edison’s first great

invention that developed in Menlo

Park was the tin foil Phonograph.

He got the idea while working to

improve the efficiency of a

telegraph transmitter. This

caused him to wonder if he could

record a telephone massage. So

he began to experiment until he

made it play back the massage he

recorded “Mary Had A Little

Lamb”.

Thomas Edison had a great

challenge and it was the

development of a practical

incandescent, electric light.

Edison invented the light bulb

but actually he didn't’t he just

improved a 50 year old idea

and it was a success.

inventions. Many of the inventions like the light bulb

and the phonograph were brilliant creations that

have a great influence on our every day life.

However not everything Thomas created was a

success he also had a few failures.
