The Rochdale Principles are below:

Open membership. Democratic control (one person, one vote). Distribution of surplus in proportion to trade. Payment of limited interest on capital. Political and religious neutrality. Cash trading (no credit extended). Promotion of education.

The Primary Principles adopted by the Giant Forge Work Camp included:

1. one member = one vote (irrespective of capital investment)

2. capital investment is made with little or no interest

3. there are patronage dividends4. cash terms5. open membership6. education expansion
