JCards squad grabs championship O’FALLON, Ill. — The Jasper JCards 13U travel baseball team won the Greater Midwest Baseball organization’s Gold Ring Regionals over the weekend in O’Fallon, Illinois, going 5-0 and beating the Heat from St. Louis in eight innings in the championship. Team members are Grant Ahlbrand, Kade Allen, Isaac Bartley, Kyle Hedinger, Trevor Krapf, Landon Mokris, Kaleb Renner, Caden Schmitt, Logan Seger, Dillon Sternberg and Josh Weidenbenner. Todd Krapf, Paul Hedinger, Mike Allen and Jason Ahlbrand are the team’s coaches. Jasper softball meeting planned JASPER — The Jasper High School Fastpitch Booster Club will have a mandatory meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Jasper Middle School Community Room. At least one parent of any high school softball player, Jasper Junior Softball player, or anyone interested in supporting Jasper fastpitch softball should attend. Coed volleyball sign-ups slated JASPER — The Jasper Park and Recreation Department is accepting sign-ups for its summer adult coed volleyball team. Games will be played Wednesday nights at Bohnert Park starting May 28 and ending no later than Aug. 6. Time slots are 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. and 8:30, if necessary. The deadline to register is May 21. The first 12 teams to submit rosters, along with the $50 entry fee, will be accepted. Six players will be allowed on the court, with an even split of three men and three women on the court at all times. Each team will play three games per night. Anyone listed on the roster living outside Jas- per city limits will be charged an additional $10, which must be turned in with the regular entry fee and roster. Jasper swim lesson sign-ups set JASPER — The Jasper Municipal Swimming Pool will have swim les- son sign-ups from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the banquet room at the Arnold F. Sports physicals planned JASPER — The Jasper Middle School athletic department will conduct physicals Wednesday, May 14, at the middle school gymnasium. Physicals are mandatory for all students planning to participate in school-sponsored athletics during the 2014-15 school year. Incom- ing eighth-graders should report at 6 p.m., incoming seventh-graders should report at 6:45 and incoming sixth-graders should report at 7:30. Parents are not required to stay during the physicals. Physical packets will be available at Jasper Middle School, Holy Family, Tenth Street, Precious Blood and Ireland schools and can also be downloaded from the JMS website. All packets must be completed by parents prior to the physical. Students must include the date of their last tetanus immunization on the form. No athlete will receive a physical unless all forms are complete. Physicals are $25 and offered only once by the athletic department. Students may also receive physicals from their family physicians but should also use the JMS physical packet, which includes emergency contact, code of conduct and concussion information. Those forms must also be returned prior to the first practice. HUNTINGBURG — Southridge High School will conduct physicals Wednesday, May 14, at the high school. Physicals are mandatory for all students planning to participate in school-sponsored athletics during the 2014-15 school year. Incoming seniors should report at 5 p.m., incoming juniors should report at 5:30, incoming sophomores should report at 6 and incoming freshmen should report at 6:30.
