Create an acrostic poem for the word RAINFOREST, or one of the named rainforests, e.g. The Amazon. Think about the words you would use to describe the rain forest and try and use them in your poem. Maths Challenge: If every consonant is worth 10 points and every vowel is worth 2, how many points would you earn for each line of your poem? Which line of your poem has earned you the most points? How many points have you scored for your whole poem?
Friday 2nd May
Create a rainforest dictionary or word mat – remember it should be in alphabetical order!ORFind out and write about the indigeneous people of a rainforest of your choice.
Friday 9th May
Make a collage of a rainforest scene OR create a new species of animal that lives in the rainforest with a factfile about it – where it lives, what it eats, any predators etc.
Friday 16th May Year 5 only
Design a treehouse you would live in if you were in the rainforest. It can be as imaginative as you like! Label the features and justify your reasons for including them.
Friday 23rd May
Prepare a 3 minute presentation on any area of the rainforest you like. You may work in a group if you wish.
