President Doug had a couple of announcements and one important request for a membership decision.

Ø Shurl has informed Doug that the price of Bacon has gone up; so, the question Doug had for members was:

o Three slices, or o Two o Members decided based on the

bottom line and not their stomachs; so it’ll be 2 slices of Bacon from now on.

Ø Doug has called a special meeting for tonight, 7 pm at Rotary House to discuss upcoming fundraisers, Roses and a Garage Sale

Ø A tentative date of Saturday Sept 13 has been set for the Garage Sale and Rotary House has also been reserved for Friday the 12th of Sept for preparation.

Lauren’s theme for us this morning was “Moving Forward” but the session could also have been titled “Focus” as in review the objectives that we established last year and focus on the objective(s) that Committees want to accomplish this year; then to identify the goals and then the strategies that need to be in place to accomplish the selected goal (the what, how, who, and when), for this Rotary year.

Some background for our new and prospective members regarding the history of our planning process:

Ø In 2009-10 during Ken Neden’s year as President he invited District 5020 “Visioning Facilitators” to lead members through a visioning exercise. What came out of that session was a long list of Goals and Objectives, however no focus or strategies for implementation were immediately worked through.

Ø Prior to Allan’s year as President in the Spring of 2011 Lauren helped us to focus on those visioning outcomes and a 5 year Strategic Plan was established with Goals and Objectives established for each area of Service

ued Ø In the Spring of 2013, prior to Deb’s year as President, with the club into the

4th year of the 5 year plan, Laurie again met with us and helped us re-focus on the next 5 years. Goals and Objectives were either ticked off as achieved, or amended or eliminated altogether.

“I can give you a six-word formula for success: Think things through – then follow through” – Eddie Rickenbacker

President Doug and Lauren summarized our morning session:

Ø Lauren encouraged each committee to focus on the Goal(s) and Objective(s) to be accomplished in this Rotary year and to identify the how, who and when to ensure things happens.

Ø President Doug asked Committees to meet regularly with agendas that focus on the specific Goals and Objective to be accomplished this Rotary year.

The Key words coming from this morning’s session are:

-Focus & Follow Through-

“I don’t focus on what I’m up against. I focus on my goals and I try to ignore the rest.” – Venus Williams
