SEARO – SEAWATER REVERSE OSMOSIS

Seawater desalination systems are reliable and fully automatic units, which serve process or drinking water all over the world. They are constructed with resistant materials and designed to the customers needs. The range goes from small semiautomatic units up to high automatic systems, which contain a huge amount of measuring and control devices.

The concept of modular construction permits a wide range of capacity without the loss of advantage in reliability.

The PID SEARO program:

resistant materials like DUPLEX, stainless steel type 1.4539 and polypropylene in piping and pumps

standard containerized or skid mounted systems

non standardized systems for special applications

open intake with all necessary pretreatment systems

beach well with standalone units

offshore systems for boats or transportable units

high qualified engineering staff for commissioning, training and supervision at site

The seawater is guided by

prepressure pumps through the

coarse filter system and after that

treated with several chemicals to

prevent the membranes against

scaling and fouling. The

highpressure pump pressurizes the

seawater up to 70 bars and pumps

it through the membranes. The

concentrate will be guided either to

a recovery system or directly to the

drainage piping. The permeate will

be treated by a deacidification filter

to smooth the water.

The disinfection can be realised by

chlorination, UV-beamer or ozone.

Seawater desalination is performed by open intake (OFFSHORE) or beach well (ONSHORE) applications.

Each system can be fitted with energy recovery systems like pelton turbines or similar approved recovery units to minimize the energy consumption of the whole installation.

Approx. Values for drinking water:

Without recovery 6 – 8 kWh/m³

With recovery 3 – 5 kWh/m³
