It’s Sea Turtle Nesting Season on
Fort Myers Beach
Begins on May 1st and lasts through October 31st
At the beginning of each summer, sea turtles visit us to nest on Fort Myers Beach
A couple of months later small, baby hatchlings make their way to the Gulf of Mexico
It is very important for these baby turtles to make it to the Gulf of Mexico – each year
thousands do not Bay to Beach Resort is doing it’s part to make
sure that these baby turtles make it to the Gulf
Seat Turtle Nesting Season
Here are a Few things that
you can do to help during your stay at
Bay to Beach Resort…
LightsTurn off/shield all lights that shine onto the beach- including lanai lights
*Lights discourage females from coming ashore to lay their nest
Bay to Beach has changed all Lanai bulbs to a yellow low wattage bulb
Fort Myers BeachRemove all beach furniture from the beach by 9:00 PM
Do not put out any beach furniture before 8:00 AMBay to Beach has removed the Teak Chairs from the beach for turtle nesting
season, but don’t worry- we have folding beach chairs for you to use during your stay!
Sea Turtle NestsPlease do not disturb any nests that you find on Fort Myers Beach
Turtles & LightsPlease keep in mind never to use flash photography or shine a light on a
sea turtle
Turtle HatchlingsIf you find a turtle hatchling on Fort Myers Beach during the daytime,
please place it in a dry container & call 239.481.5566
