Seachtain na Gaeilge March 1st -17th 2019
Bhí scléip agus spórt mór againn le linn an CHEILÍ MÓR a d'eagraigh Michael Cooney dúinn. Is fear an-
greannmhar é Michael agus múinteoir rince den scoth. Buíochas mór le Michael.
Tar éis an cheilí bhí ceolchoirm beag againn sa halla inar chas gach rang amhráin agus dúirt siad
dánta.
Labhair and t-Athair George Bourke linn mar gheall ar an chomhairle a thug an Pápa Proinnsias
dúinn:- Na trí rudaí gur chóir linn a rá go minic-
1. Más é do thoil é.
2. Go raibh maith agat.
3. Tá brón orm.
An Ghaeilge - Labhair í agus mairfidh sí.
Tír gan teanga - Tír gan anam.
On Wednesday 27th March the school had the pleasure of hosting the M and M Theatrical
Production's dramatic interpretation of 'The Hobbit'.
The production was entirely free of charge and can only be spoken of in superlatives - detailed sets, wonderful
special effects, and an enchanting presentation full of magic, riddles and music.
So impressed were we that we re-booked them for 'Beauty and the Beast' in January 2020.
Bongo Drumming
Ms Stella Quinn is liaising with the school and Creative Drumming Ireland to organise Bongo Drumming
Classes over a ten week period from May to September. At the end of the ten weeks the school will be
gifted with a set of Bongo Drums.
Moycarkey, Littleton, Two Mile Borris Community Alert
May we express our thanks to the Moycarkey, Littleton, and Two Mile Boris Community Alert for their generous
donation of €100 towards lighting at the defibrillator station?
Green Flag Update
Catherine Broderick from Tipperary County Council paid a visit to the school on March 25th for our Green
Flag Inspection. She met with the Green School’s Committee and visited each class. She was very impressed
with the knowledge and work the children had put into the flag. Well done to all! We await notification from
Ms Broderick in the coming weeks whether are application was successful.
Congratulations also to Albha O’Connor & Eimear Fogarty on winning our Slogan & Art
Competitions Well done to all!
A representative from Change X visited the school at the end of March and did a workshop with the children
from 3rd to 6th about the effect plastic is having on our world. From April 29th onwards, we, as a school
will begin to try reduce waste in our lunchboxes. Our three aims are to:
1. Encourage reusable water bottles
2. Say no to single use plastic and tin-foil in lunch boxes
3. Say no to plastic straws
With these three small changes, your children can save the planet!

Sarah came to our school on work experience in September, it wasn’t long before Sarah settled in. She was
a great help with the junior classes, we will really miss her upbeat personality and kindness around the
school. We wish her well in her future studies.
Ms Ellen McCormack has kindly entered our school in a competition to win a hamper of seeds from
Germinal Seeds, which we were lucky enough to win. Many thanks

Junk Kouture Visit
A huge congratulations to Roisin Donnelly, past pupil, Aoife Dunphy, Sarah Curran and Bethel O’Toole who have
proceeded to the next stage of the Junk Kouture Competition. They visited the school to show us their beautiful
creation. It’s title is ‘All Scrubbed Up’ is an impressive piece of art, made using obsolete medical
equipment such as biopsy valves, forceps, scissors, an old fob watch, tubes, cleaning brushes and old
scrubs! The 'surgical' tray is made from scrap mdf which was sprayed with silver paint. You can vote
online for this fantastic project and we wish the girls the very best of luck!
Thank you to all who have left in re-cyclable clothes. Please continue to drop in clothes to the hall as
it’s much appreciated.
