Seahorse Tales Woolgoolga Public School TERM 1 ISSUE 10 4 th April 2019 Staffing Changes The beginning of Term Two will see a few staffing changes at our school. Mrs Cindy Boyd has received a transfer to Tyalla Public School and we wish her all the very best at Tyalla and into the future. Ms Robyn Silk will takeover as class teacher on what will become 3S in Term Two. Ms Silk’s Learning Support position will be filled by Mrs Athorn and Ms Ellis both of whom are very well known to our students and we are very happy to welcome them back to our team. 2019 Netball NSW School Cup Competition On Wednesday, 27 th March, students travelled by bus to Coffs Harbour to participate in the 2019 Netball NSW School Cup day. Teams from Years 5 and 6 competed in a round-robin competition against other schools while teams from Years 3 and 4 competed in a Gala day. The students all played well and were great representatives of our school. Cross Country Carnival Congratulations to the students who will be representing the school at the District Cross Country Carnival which will be held in Term 2. We wish them all well! Ribbons from our school cross country will be presented at a special assembly at 2pm on Monday 8 th April 2019. Reminder - Daylight Saving Ends Daylight saving ends in NSW on Sunday, 7 th April 2019 when clocks go back one hour at 2:00am.

Staffing Changes

The beginning of Term Two will see a few staffing changes at our school. Mrs Cindy Boyd has received a transfer to Tyalla Public School and we wish her all the very best at Tyalla and into the future. Ms Robyn Silk will takeover as class teacher on what will become 3S in Term Two. Hot Cross Bun Morning Tea

Hot Cross Bun Morning Tea

An order form has been sent home for our Hot Cross Bun Morning Tea being held on Friday 12th April. This is a special Easter get together so we hope to see you here at school enjoying your hot cross bun.

Please return the note and money to your child’s class teacher by Wednesday 10th April.

Easter Activities K – 2

Easter hat making is on Thursday 11th April in classrooms. No chocolate products are to be used on the hats please.

The Easter Hat Parade will be held in the school hall on Friday 12th April at 9:15am.

Easter tabloid activities K – 2 will be held between 10:00am – 11:00am in the kindergarten COLA area and also the grassed area near the kindergarten classrooms.

PSSA Rugby League Trials

Last Wednesday a group of boys from Year 5 & 6 travelled to Coffs Harbour to participate in a selection process for a district NRL team. We were placed in mixed teams with students from other schools. All Year 6 students were selected for the team and are now off to the MNC RL trials. By Marlon Frost

Terracycle Recycling Programs

The P&C is still running their recycling program this term and are still collecting old beauty products and mailing satchels as well as dental waste. A collection point is in the administration building (near the school Interview room). Please see our office staff to direct you.

Beauty products:

* Cosmetics packaging such as used lipstick and lip gloss, mascara, eye shadow, bronzer, foundation, eyeliner, eye shadow, lip liner, and concealer packaging.

* Hair care packaging such as used shampoo and conditioner bottles and caps, hair gel tubes and caps, hair spray and hair treatment packaging.

* Skin care packaging such as lip balm, face moisturiser, face and body wash soap dispensers and tubes, body and hand lotion dispensers and tubes and shaving foam packaging.

Mailing satchels: any brand of prepaid Mailing Satchels & Padded Mailing Satchels.

6B Surfing Years 5 and 6 have made the most of the perfect surfing conditions this term,

learning new skills and beach safety with Solitary Islands Surf School. This program was made possible by a grant from the Australian Sports Commission through the Sporting Schools Program.
