The Hitachi Global PAC Primairy range is a new range of PAC single split systems designed to give a high level of flexibility without exces-sive complexity and at a competitive price. This manual is designed to show how to use the controls for Global PAC using the wired remote controller supplied with the unit. On installation various field settings should be set up for the particular installation that you have. Step 1—Pipe Length Dip switch 2, segment 1 on the outdoor unit PCB is delivered set to off. If the in-door to outdoor pipe separation is above 15 metres set this to on. Step 2—Duct Static Pressure (Ducted Units Only)

Volt Free Access
A plug is included connected to CN16 with a pair of wire loops to allow remote in-terface with the unit for the following functions via a remote Volt Free Contact. The option code 25 needs to be set up to use this function (see page 6) and the red loop on the plug in CN16 to be cut and taken via a 1mm cable to a remote Volt Free contact. Keycard Access—Use the Volt Free contact to give a closed signal for normal opera-tion and open the contact for 30 seconds or more to stop operation Fire Alarm—Use the Volt Free contact to break the contacts and stop the unit after 30 seconds in case of a fire alarm On / Off control—The Volt Free is used to start and stop the unit with Closed circuit starting and open circuit stopping the unit.

Control Logic Description
Fan Only Mode
In fan only mode the temperature is not shown, nor can the set tem-
perature be adjusted and Auto Fan mode is not available. The indoor unit runs constantly in the selected fan speed.
Cooling Mode
In cooling mode the indoor fan operates constantly in either the manually selected speed or in auto fan speed according to the dia-
gram on the right dependant upon the difference between actual and set temperature.
The unit will cool until the set temperature is reached when it will stop cooling. Cooling will be restarted when the actual temperature
is higher than the set temperature by 1C.
The outdoor fan speed is dependant upon the outdoor coil tempera-
ture. Twin fan outdoor units operate with the lower fan running slightly slower than the upper.
Heating Mode
When heating mode is initially selected the indoor fan will not oper-
ate to prevent cold drafts. Once the indoor coil warms up then the
fan will operate according to the selected fan speed. In auto fan speed the fan will operate according to the diagram on the right de-
pendant upon the difference between actual and set temperature.
The unit will heat until the set temperature is reached when it will
stop heating. Heating will be restarted when the actual temperature is lower than the set temperature by 1C.
The outdoor fan speed is dependant upon the outdoor coil tempera-
ture. Twin fan outdoor units operate with the lower fan running
slightly slower than the upper.
Auto Mode
In auto mode the system will compare the set temperature with the actual temperature. A difference of greater than 3C will result in the
unit switching into either heating or cooling mode. It will stay in that
mode until the set temperature is changed or the heating or cooling has stopped for 10 minutes.
Freeze and Overheat Protection
In cooling mode the system will stop cooling if the indoor coil tem-perature drops too low and runs the risk of freezing the coil. It will
also monitor the outdoor coil and stop cooling if the temperature rises too high.
In heating mode if the indoor coil temperature rises too high then
the unit will stop heating to allow this to drop.

Fault Codes
If the unit malfunctions then an error code will display on the controller as below. Error codes and Drive Error Codes can also be interrogated using the Running Parameter function on the controller. They are also displayed on the outdoor PCB.

fault code or 25 to show a Drive Code.
