2015 PWCCR Picnic Photos and Fun
Member Ann True took pictures at our 2015 picnic at the Rihaneks and she couldn’t have stated it better: “It was so much fun to see all the dogs romping together. What a perfect setting. Maggie really enjoyed being off leash b/c we don't have a fenced yard for her to do that. Plus, so many more begging opportunities! She was in heaven.” Brats and burgers were consumed along with many wonderful side dishes and yummy desserts. Everyone had loads of fun chatting and visiting with the Corgis. Not a nasty one in sight!

A Dog’s Plea
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for
kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I might lick your hand between blows,
your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have
me learn.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by
the fierce wagging of my tail when the sound of your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no
longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no great glory than the privilege of sitting at
your feet beside the hearth.
Keep my pan filled with water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean
food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and
stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And, my friend, when I am very old and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and
sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see
to it that my life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I
draw that my fate was always safest in your hand.

You may remember this picture from last issue. It is Trevor & Nicole Boutin from
Colorado Springs. As you can see, Trevor is in the military, having served two tours of
duty. The little girl on the left has developed an auto-immune disease and we are paying
her Vet bills for the Boutins, who cannot afford the high costs of her meds and testing.
We would love to have you donate to Corgi rescue on behalf of Bella and Trevor so that
we can keep her healthy and with the Boutins. The Rescue Board believes strongly that
this is an opportunity to give back to Trevor for his service to our country. Please
consider donating to Corgi rescue on their behalf:

Hi Lynn, Don't know if you remember me and Wrigley, but I adopted him in January of 2015. He was extremely shy and timid, I think from mistreatment from his previous owners. He was very hand shy and foot shy when I brought him home. Jump to 3 months later....his personality is starting to really shine through, he loves his new life. Every morning after breakfast he crawls on my lap for some good cuddle time, this of course includes kisses and hugs...this occurs after dinner too. The corgi in him is becoming more evident everyday, that loving and playful way. He spends his weekdays with Grandma who takes him for long walks and showers him with attention. The weekends are spent at the Cherry Creek dog park where he is thriving. Wrigley is learning to play with other dogs, we meet my brother and his dog there, and I swear he has a smile on his face the whole time. I just wanted to let you we are both happy we found each other. I am looking forward to seeing and encouraging the continued progress Wrigley will make in another 3 months. Thank you for all you do to save corgi's and find them a new and loving forever home. Ginny and Wrigley Arndt

Buffy, a pretty tri color who is approximately 6-7 years old. She
was turned in because her owners were moving across country
and were only taking one dog. Buffy is now residing in the home

Wall Photos A Pembroke Welsh Corgi. How had we overlooked them? They met all of our needs. Such alert little dogs, so loyal and wise They are the perfect breed. So from Caradoc to Royal Mark And kennels in between, We tried to find a Corgi pup But just missed them all it seemed. At last there was a pup for us After such a long, long wait. We went to the kennel to meet her And I'll always remember that date. Well, that was a short three years ago Although it seems like more. Having Goldie has brought us some very dear friends, Both the two legged kind and the four. By: Rebecca Garrett

Sadi, our petite, tri lady, came from the Colorado Springs Humane Shelter.
Due to her age (8-10) and her needing extensive dental work, they did not
want to keep her. Lucky for Sadi, we were able to get her healthy again and
placed her with a woman who has had many Corgis and she is doing well!

Hi, I'm Suki!
I am a young eight year old female. My owner ran into financial problems
and had to surrender me. I am good with kids although I don't have any
experience with toddlers. I am also good with cats and although I haven't
been around dogs much, I liked the corgi next door. I like to play fetch! But I
also am good about sneaking out the door and bad about coming back
when called, so I should go to obedience class. Like most corgis,
I do bark a lot.

An old Rescue dog, Written by Leslie Whalen
One by One, they pass by my cage, they say, "Too worn, too broken, too old of age. Way past his time, he can't run and play." Then they shake their heads and go on their way. ...A little old man, arthritic and sore. It seems I am not wanted anymore. I once had a home, I once had a bed, a place that was warm, and where I was fed. Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail. Who wants a dog so old and so frail? My family decided I didn't belong, I got in their way, my attitude was wrong. Whatever excuse they made in their head, Can't justify how they left me for dead. Now I sit in this cage, where day after day, the younger dogs get adopted away. When I had almost come to the end of my rope, you saw my face, and I finally had hope. You saw through the grey, and the legs bent with age, and felt I still had life beyond this cage. You took me home, gave me food and a bed, and shared your own pillow with my poor tired head. We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low. You love me so dearly, you want me to know. I may have lived most of my life with another, but you outshine them with a love so much stronger. And I promise to return all the love I can give, to you, my dear person, as long as I live. I may be with you for a week, or for years. We will share many smiles; you will no doubt shed tears. And when the time comes that I must leave, I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve. And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, my thoughts and my heart will still be with you. And I will brag to all who will hear, of the person who made my last days so dear.
