Second Semester Events Summary 2013
• Monday, 7 January 2013 Classes resume, 8 a.m. Students can pick up a copy of their second semester schedule on the front counter (and view on-‐line by 2 January). Remember that all classes at JPII are semester-based. Course credit is earned by semester, such that all students and classes are starting anew. • Monday, 14 January 2013 Mandatory all parent meeting, 7:00 p.m. • Monday, 21 January 2013 No school – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday • Saturday, 26 January 2013 Knight with the Seminarians: Every year, our school supports the Knights of Columbus Council 4181 in New Braunfels and their special event, Knight with the Seminarians. At that Saturday evening dinner event, the Council raises funds for five area seminaries and honors all seminarians at the dinner. Our school has been serving and helping at the dinner for the last three years and will continue this tradition in perpetuity! This year, the event has been moved up one month due to a scheduling conflict. It will be held on Saturday, 26 Jan. 2013, starting with Mass at 5 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. at the Knights Hall in New Braunfels. • Here is what we need: All freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are asked to serve that evening as servers. They will report to the Knights Hall at 4:30 p.m., receive brief training in what is needed, etiquette, and procedure, a pizza meal, and then serving and clearing work until 9 p.m. Servers need to wear white button–up collared shirts, black pants, and black or brown dress shoes (no tennis shoes). • Note two more parts of the evening: Our choir will be singing and playing at the Sts. Peter & Paul 5 p.m. Mass that day, and will be performing a few numbers at the dinner itself. Dr. Kenney will have more information for choir families. Secondly, a generous donor has purchased two tables for the Class of 2013. Seniors will all have a seat at the dinner, and will be recognized that evening at the dinner. (This is a tradition the school will continue each year, seniors get to attend as guests!) Seniors are asked to make every effort to attend (Sunday best dress please).
