AP5020 MTG: AP Language PLC Participants will receive information and curriculum documents pertaining to AP Language and

Composition. In addition, participants will receive professional development specific to content

and strategies applicable to AP Language course.

EdPlan e-TRAIN Course Title Course Description

CU2411 EdPLan System Training Participants will gain familiarity of the EdPlan system. The course will consist of how to login and navigate

the system; learn to create test keys; create, administer, and scan assessments; and learn to run reports.

CU2471 EdPlan Reports Training Participants will learn about EdPlan reporting and how to use report filters to run reports on Benchmark and

Formative Assessments including a student score report, item distribution analysis, student tutoring report,

objective analysis, and more. Training will also cover the District Assessment drill down/dashboard that is

displayed when users login to the system.

ESL/ELL e-TRAIN Course Title Course Description

ML0002 Overview: Gr 6-12 ESL Programs Participants will learn strategies to improve Secondary Campus ESL Programs in connection with the

Performance Based Monitoring and Analysis System (PBMAS). TEA uses PBMAS to evaluate the performance

of students served through federal programs, compliance with federal program guidelines, as well as, data

integrity. ML0010 TExES Review: ESL Exam #154 Participants will be trained to take the ESL Supplemental certification exam. Teachers who participate in the

course training should register on the SBEC webpage for the TExES ESL Supplemental examination Test #154.

ML0057 PK - 8 Mid-Year LPAC Participants will address state mandates for Mid-Year LPAC for the current school year.

ML0146 TELPAS New Verifier PK-12 Participants will complete the Online Assembling and Verifying Grades 2-12 Writing Collections course in

order to serve as a TELPAS verifier.

ML0147 TELPAS New Rater K-12 Participants will complete the Online Basic Training course for new raters.

ML0192 New ELL Program Coordinators Participants will be presented with review program guidelines and assist school staff with meeting the

compliance, programmatic and instructional needs of secondary ELL students.

ML0208 ESL Programs Gr 6-12 Participants will become familiar with the ESL programs that are provided by the Multilingual Department.

ML0255 Dual Language Just in Time C4 Participants will collaborate with other DL teachers in exploring the upcoming cycle’s units of study as

outlined in HISD’s DL Curriculum Framework. Participants will have an opportunity to develop lesson plans for

future implementation.

ML0256 Dual Language Essentials & Bilingual Workstation

Participants will explore the differences of teaching for monoliteracy versus biliteracy. An introduction to

Dual Language essentials that foster metalinguistic awareness, facilitate language transfer and provide

linguistic support for content and language development will be presented and modeled. Attendees will have

an opportunity to experience hands-on activities through various workstations and rotations that may be

implemented in the classroom. HISD Dual Language Curriculum Documents will be reviewed. ML0257 Mid-Year LPAC Gr 9-12 Participants will learn the state mandates concerning the assessment of English Language Learners for the

current school year.

ML0263 MOY New LPAC Coordinators PK-8

Participants will receive state mandated Middle of Year LPAC procedures, ELL Student Assessment, TELPAS

Assessment, and required ELL Documentation.

ML0264 MOY New LPAC Coordinators 9-12

Participants will receive state mandated Middle of Year LPAC procedures, ELL Student Assessment, TELPAS

Assessment, and required ELL Documentation.

ML0265 Biliteracy & Language Transfer Participants will come away with classroom practices and strategies will be presented and modeled to

facilitate an effective implementation of language transfer such as Preview/View/Review and Cross-linguistic

Connections (The Bridge).

ML0266 Exploration of DL Resources Participants will have an opportunity to explore dual language core materials and their use in the classroom

to facilitate Cross-linguistic Connections and the implementation of the balanced approach to reading as

outlined in the current HISD’s Literacy by 3 Plan.

EL0027 ONLINE: G/T Gr 6-12 (12 Hrs) In this online course, participants will be trained on the revised HISD G/T Curriculum Framework, "Scholars

and Knowledge", and TAGT areas, Nature and Needs: 6 hours, and Identification and Assessment: 6 hours.

EL0029 ONLINE: Differentiating Technology Tools 6-12

In this online course, participants will be introduced to web tools that can be used for differentiation to meet

the needs of their students, Tech tools will include those used for visualization, collaboration and content

sharing which allows students to create products not otherwise available or possible in the traditional pencil

and paper classroom. Teachers will learn collaboration and sharing strategies for colleagues.

EL0044 ONLINE: G/T Nature and Needs In this online course, participants will be introduced to the revised HISD G/T Curriculum Framework,

"Scholars and Knowledge and other Advance Academic policies pertaining to the implementation and

maintenance of G/T programs on HISD campuses.

EL0048 ONLINE: Monitoring Academic Rigor 6-12

In this online course participants will gain knowledge into, "Monitoring Academic Rigor and Advanced Level

Products in the G/T Classroom" provides tools for Principals, G/T Coordinators, and teacher leaders who

monitor implementation of the revised G/T Curriculum Framework “Scholars and Knowledge."

EL2002 ONLINE: G/T - Gr.6-12 (30 hrs) In this online course, participants will gain knowledge into the revised HISD G/T Curriculum Framework,

"Scholars and Knowledge" and the five TAGT areas: (Day One) Nature and Needs (6 hrs) (Day Two)

Identification and Assessment (6 hrs), (Days One-Four) Social and Emotional Needs (1.5 hrs), (Day Three)

Creativity (6 hrs), and (Day Four) Differentiated Instruction (6 hrs). Participants must attend all four days.

EL2035 G/T DI: Multiple Ways of Engagement

This online course participants will learn how to engage students with lesson content in multiple ways that

are appropriate to lesson objectives and responsive to student’s needs. This module is aligned to I-3 of the

Instructional Practice Rubric. TAGT approved.

EL2037 G/T DI: Adapt Depth/Pace/Delivery Mode

In this ONLINE course participants will learn how to adapt depth, pace, and delivery mode of what is taught

in a lesson to allow students to access the lesson at multiple levels of challenge. This module is aligned to I-3

of the Instructional Practice Rubric. TAGT approved.

EL2039 G/T DI: Flexible Grouping In this ONLINE course participants will learn how to strategically utilize flexible instructional groups and

varied interactional arrangement that are appropriate to the students and the instructional purposes of the

lesson. This module is aligned to I-3 of the Instructional Practice Rubric. TAGT approved.

EL4000 ONLINE: G/T Scholars Knowledge In this online, TAGT approved course, participants will be introduced to the revised HISD G/T Curriculum

Framework "Scholars and Knowledge." The training includes student inventories, curriculum compacting,

differentiated instructional strategies, depth and complexity, rigor and relevance, research skills utilizing

TEA's Texas Performance Standards Project, and advanced level product development.

TT1425 G/T Nature and Needs Participants will receive an introduction and overview of the revised HISD G/T Curriculum Framework,

Scholars and Knowledge and other Advanced Academics policies regarding the implementation and

maintenance of G/T programs on HISD campuses. TAGT approved.

TT3013 Revised G/T Framework 6-12 Participants will be introduced to the revised HISD G/T Curriculum Framework "Scholars and Knowledge."

The training includes student inventories, curriculum compacting, differentiated instructional strategies,

depth and complexity, rigor and relevance, research skills utilizing TEA's Texas Performance Standards

Project, and advanced level product development. TAGT approved.

TT3017 Differentiation for the G/T Classroom 6-12

Participants will learn how to adapt the lesson’s depth and pace to the gifted learner’s level of readiness,

interest, and learning style and engage in a variety of learning methods to address the needs of gifted

students. .

TT4123 Differentiation Using Tech Tools 6-12 GT

Participants will be introduced to web tools that can be used for differentiation to meet the needs of their

students. Tech Tools will include those used for visualization, collaboration and content sharing which allows

TT4190 Beyond Projects 6-12 G/T Participants will effectively plan and execute both projects and/or problem-based experiences for their

students as they work toward a culminating performance or exhibit. From theory to final product, how to

backward plan for a satisfying learning experience

TT4604 G/T - Gr 6-12 Teachers (12 hrs) Participants will gain knowledge into the revised HISD G/T Curriculum Framework, "Scholars and

Knowledge", and TAGT areas: Day 1: Nature and Needs - 6hrs, Day 2: Identification and Assessment - 6hrs.

Participants must attend both 6.0 hour sessions/days to receive credit.

TT6618 Dare to Differentiate 6-12 G/T Participants will learn how to differentiate the foundation areas (Reading, Math, Social Studies and Science)

using Compacting, Tiered Assignments, Learning Contracts and Extension Menus.

TT6619 Depth and Complexity 6-12 G/T Participants will learn what does Depth and Complexity look like in the Classroom? Participants learn to

teach concepts to new levels of depth and complexity using icons to represent the thinking strategies.

Participants learn how to get started and how to apply in the classroom.

CU5673 Gr 6-8 Returning SRI 2 Participants will receive additional training which builds upon their previous SRI training. Teachers learn

additional instructional strategies to improve vocabulary, comprehension, and foundational skills. In addition,

teachers also increase knowledge of assessing students' skills and planning effective lessons to meet

individual needs. This is part two of two sessions.

CU5253 LOTE Chinese Lang Curriculum Updates

Participants will analyze The State Of Chinese Language in HISD. They will receive an update on the Chinese

Textbook Alignment between middle schools and high schools, and will provide their feedback on possible

professional development opportunities for Chinese Language Teachers as well as LOTE in general.

CU5258 LOTE Teacher Curriculum Writing Participants will be updated in the different components of the LOTE Curriculum, as well as in the steps to

develop a rigorous curriculum.

CU5335 Technology Tools for LOTE Participants will get updated on the variety of technology tools that can be used in the LOTE instruction, from

creating interactive board activities, to web 2.0 tools for collaboration, visualization, presentation and

content sharing tools applied to the LOTE classroom.

CU5382 LOTE Spanish Lang Curriculum Update

Participants will analyze the State of Spanish Language in HISD. They will receive an update on the Spanish

Textbook alignment between middle schools and high schools, and will provide their feedback on possible

professional development opportunities for Spanish language teachers as well as LOTE in general.

CU5624 AP Spanish Language PLC Participants will work collaboratively as a professional learning community to explore AP Spanish language

and literature strategies that promote aligned, rigorous, and engaging advanced instruction based on high-

yield, research-based instructional strategies and district initiatives.
