2 Stevenage Glass Secondary Double Glazing
Secondary double glazing is an extra slim-line pane of glass fitted inside existing single-glazed windows which helps to improve insulation and soundproofing in homes. Ideal in Listed Buildings and conservation areas, secondary double glazing is made from strong lightweight aluminium and can be manufactured to be very slim and discreet inside your existing windows.
The versatility of secondary double glazing means it can slide horizontally, vertically or lift out for ease of use, or there is the option of having it fitted on a hinge or fixed if you would rather.

Affordability
Secondary double glazing is a cost-effective alternative to buying entirely new windows or double glazing.
Energy efficiency
Secondary double glazing improves thermal insulation and reduces draughts inside the home. In turn, this makes your home a more environmentally-friendly place and saves you money on your energy bills.
In keeping with your property’s original style
With secondary double glazing, the original windows are kept in place, meaning that the character of the property is retained. This is particularly useful in older buildings and period properties where replacing the entire windows is not a feasible option.
No planning permission is required
This makes secondary double glazing particularly useful in listed buildings where planning permission is usually required for standard double glazing.
Low maintenance
The wipe-clean surface of the glass makes our secondary double glazing easy to look after.
Reduction in noise and increased security
Our secondary glazing is made-to-measure, ensuring the perfect fit with your existing 3 windows. This helps to reduce external sounds and noises, making it particularly useful in homes located in the city centre, and also improves security levels, should someone try to break into your property.
Versatile design
The glazing can be fitted in a variety of different types of window, such as both square and faceted bay windows.

BENEF ITS OF SECONDARYDOUBLE GLAZ ING
Stevenage Glass Secondary Double Glazing
Double glazing is usually more expensive than secondary double glazing as completely new units will need to be fitted. Alternatively, secondary glazing simply includes a supplementary piece of glazing which is fitted inside the existing window frame, meaning no new units are required.
Not only is this convenient, but it also makes secondary double glazing particularly well-suited to older listed buildings and period properties as it preserves the character with the traditional units.
Compared with double glazing which will require a professional to install the unit, fitting secondary double glazing can be a DIY job as no existing window units need to be removed - take a look at the measuring section of our brochure for further details on how to measure up for secondary double glazing.
