3Did you know ?The royalsCharles 1 visited the old house on the 17 and 18 of September 1643. Just after raising the Royal Standard in Nottingham.

The design!!!The ancient high house is timber framed, it was complete in 1594 and the clients were the Dorrington family. It is a town house, the house is an Elizabathan house very popular but very expensive. They had lots of windows to show they were rich.

The civil war!!In May 1643 the king`s enemies captured the town. There are rooms about the English civil war, Edwardian and Victorian eras in the ancient high house.

The TudorsTHE TUDOR ROSE!Henry 7th stopped the war of the roses between the house of York and the house of Lancaster. The war went on from 1455 until 1487. The conflict resulted from social and financial troubles that followed the hundred year war. Henry Tudor defeated the last Yorkist king Richard 3rd at the battle of Bosworth field. After taking the throne as Henry 7th , Henry Tudor married Elizabeth of York the daughter of Edward 4th finally uniting the 2 houses. An era leading to what is sometimes called the golden age. The house of the Tudor ruled England and wales until 1603.

After the warHenry Tudor was crowned as King Henry VII marking the beginning of the 118 year reign of the Tudor dynasty in England. Henry VII (representing the Lancaster family) married Elizabeth of York (representing the York family),thismarriageunited both families Henry created the Tudor rose containing the white rose and red rose.

Fun and games for Tudor kidsJesters entertained kid in rich families, some had tennis courts . Rich kids rode on horse back, ran after small birds and went on hunting trips with hunting deer. Boy actor were mostly from poor families and put on Shakespeare, women were not allowed to act in public so young men played in girls parts the men done this by dressing up and being dramatic. Poor kids played with toys that the parents made such as rag dolls, skittles and wooden animals.
