Partners capacitiesWho can do what with which timeframe and who will take care of what – the implementation plan – ‘not putting flags but commitments to prepare, mobilise, assess and respond for partners active in camps and for shelter/NFI.’

Advocacy and resource mobilisation needs- Prioritise locations for integrated preparedness together with WASH – ‘be ready, prepare for the worst in terms of outbreaks and floods’- Advocate to donors community & GoN toward mobilisation contingency/flexible preparedness & rapid response capacities–‘as strong shelters could be, many will be damaged due to strong storms and water does not flow’- Drainage, mitigation and community empowerment – DRR sensitization, mitigation tools – ‘prepare with bottom-up approach - CBDRR and community empowerment’

Key consideration for alternative TS• Local appropriateness _ HOW?

• Material availability _ WHAT

- Which material do people already have available

• Local/Community capacity or skill _ WHAT

- WHO will build the Shelters

- Are local Carpenters and Masons available

- What could be the level of participation of the affected persons

- Do affected people have skills and resources to maintain the shelters

- What support will be provided to those who are not able to build/maintain thshelters

• Environmental impact and friendliness _WHAT

Page 17: Sector coordination meeting - humanitarianresponse.info · 3/27/2018  · meeting and implementation plan ... BO_S075 GAYA KOFA 944 4003 BO_S264 BARE CAMP 779 3894 BO_S090 CENTRAL_PRIMARY_SCHOOL_DAMBOA

• HLP issues in return areas

- Property tracing

- Who does the advocacy for land and with whom

- Sustainability of tenure in the longer term

• Community Dynamics

- Ensuring Equity

- WASH etc.

• Defining response in camps and out of camps

Page 19: Sector coordination meeting - humanitarianresponse.info · 3/27/2018  · meeting and implementation plan ... BO_S075 GAYA KOFA 944 4003 BO_S264 BARE CAMP 779 3894 BO_S090 CENTRAL_PRIMARY_SCHOOL_DAMBOA

Next Steps esponseFrame work

Shelter TWG to develop a guidelines which clearly defines Emergency, Transitional andDurable/Permanent Shelter solutions to inform the process of developing a realistic andappropriate design and or also to use locally available materials.

Shelter TWG to review different categories of target groups and the most appropriateshelter response to be delivered in line with their displacement status or situation.

Transitional shelter – There should be a clear understanding between the sector andgovernment on the need to adopt a semi durable shelter response (Transitional) within thecontext.

NRC to share its report on return assessment survey conducted
