Howard County Library System, Glenwood BranchPainted steel; 8'Childhood memories of growing up as part of a large family on a Kentucky farm provide plenty of inspiration for Cathy Perry's nature-based work. The harmony between the pond plants and animals depicted in Oasis I mimics the balance found in nature.

    OASIS I • Cathy Perry1

Clarksville CommonsPainted steel; 2'6"”x2'6"x9'Hanna Jubran often incorporates geometric shapes into his art. He has a particular affinity for cubes, which he describes as simple to understand but complicated to create. For Cube in Motion, Jubran created each cube as an open framework rather than a solid mass, inviting the viewer inside the work.

CUBE IN MOTION • Hanna Jubran2

The Arc of Howard CountyPainted & powder-coated steel, stainless steel, bronze; 2'6"x5'2"x8'8" Glenn Zweygardt created Remembering Giotto as an homage to the renowned painter and architect considered the first genius of the Italian Renaissance. The sculpture's repeated circular forms recall the phrase 'round as Giotto's O,' meaning that which is quickly but perfectly done.

    REMEMBERING GIOTTO • Glenn Zweygardt3

AIDA Bistro, Corporate Office Properties TrustPainted steel, granite; 1'4"x1'4"x8' each Mark Attebery's sculptures are expressions of elemental forces in astronomy and the earth sciences. Here, tendrils of canary yellow intertwine and reach skyward, seeking the restorative energy of the sun.

    TENDRIL GROVE NO. 2 • Mark Attebery6

Howard County Government, George Howard BuildingFabricated steel, copper, stainless steel; 2'x2'x9’8” Zweygardt's deep admiration for Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi inspired him to create this tribute employing the visual imagery and transcendent forms for which the pioneer of Modernism was known.

    REMEMBERING BRANCUSI • Glenn Zweygardt5

Howard County Public School SystemPainted steel; 6'4"Cathy Perry uses the symbiosis found in nature as a metaphor for the bonds of family – entwined, interwoven, and surviving together. This lacy shell of a fallen leaf evokes the end of one season and the start of another, continuing life's neverending cycle.

AUTUMN GLORY • Cathy Perry4 Horowitz Visual & Performing Arts Center, HCCSteel, wood; 6'6"x15'6"Presenting an abstracted view of a ship's mast, Bobby Donovan's Tidal Reach reflects the artist's interest in nautical forms while also emphasizing the connections that exist all around us. Each arc has its autonomy yet all are physically connected to one another through the common masts they share.

    TIDAL REACH • Bobby Donovan10

Columbia Association, Slayton House Aluminum, granite; 1’x4’x5'10"Jeff Chyatte's work is an attempt to understand the human condition through discovery of the relationships between its components. Through the use of mathematically significant dimensions such as the Fibonacci sequence and the Golden Ratio, his sculptures achieve the subtle equilibrium found in nature.

    PROWESS • Jeff Chyatte11

Howard County General Hospital Steel, pressure-treated plywood, stucco; 5'x5'x8'Craig Gray's whimsical artwork is inspired by his home base of Key West, Florida. The precariously stacked fruit slices in Watermelon Picnic embody the island's quirky, laid-back vibe and offer the enticing prospect of a lazy summer afternoon.

    WATERMELON PICNIC • Craig Gray9

North Laurel Community Center & ParkPainted resin-treated wood, steel; 4’x4’x10’Bob Turan considers this sculpture a collaborative work with Mother Nature. It was started by ants and continued by a pair of pileated woodpeckers before the artist rescued it from the side of the road after a highway crew cut it down. Turan pieced the sections of the tree back together to form a 'totem' and painted them red, white, and black in honor of his colorful bird collaborators.

PILEATED WOODPECKER TOTEM • Bob Turan7

James & Anne Robinson Nature Center Ceramic forms installed on dead trees; size variableThe ‘fungi’ for this site-specific installation were formed during a ceramics workshop led by Marc Robarge and later installed on selected dead trees on the Nature Center grounds. The resulting art integrates seamlessly with its surroundings and invites viewers to slow down and take a closer look.

    TOTEM • Marc Robarge8

Inner Arbor Trust/Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods Steel, sunshades; 10'x18'x24'Becky Borlan uses a palette of bright color, geometric shapes and repeated motifs to create her experiential and whimsical sculptures. Through a combination of material and scale the viewer is encouraged to reconsider the way they perceive the mundane and fantastic elements in their lives.
