GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE
Making a Difference!
Greetings Rotarians!
As we finish our year of Rotary: Making a
Difference I’d like to thank everyone for making All IN Rotary 2018 a phenomenal success! Nearly 500 Rotarians attended this historic conference, experienced inspirational speakers, outstanding breakouts, established new connections and renewed old friendships across our great state of Indiana. The incredible speakers, service projects and rooftop party were highlights for me. I owe special thanks to our District Chairman Jeff Lake, Operations Chair Ray Kramp along with PDG Steve and Susan Leonard for exceptional work on the executive leadership team.
As People of Action, please continue sharing your Rotary story with other community LEADERS and invite them to share IDEAS and take ACTION! Rotary allows me to be part of something bigger than myself. Our $2 weekly contribution challenge to The Rotary Foundation makes small ideas BIG through local and international service projects. Please don’t keep Rotary’s opportunity a secret in your community, invite someone new to your next club meeting or service project!
One IN Rotary,Bryce Adam,
District Governor, 2017-18
Last Chance! You don’t want to miss this!

I am honored to serve as D6560 representative for the Council On Legislation (COL) of Rotary International to be held in April 2019. While the COL is held every three years, new this year and beyond, is an on-line Council On Resolutions (COR) to be held every year.

There is another opportunity for D6560 Clubs to submit resolutions for consideration by the COR this year provided such resolutions are submitted by clubs by June 30, 2018. Such resolutions may be endorsed by the district at the District Conference in April 2018, at the District Assembly at Camp Rotary on May 19, 2018 or at another District-wide function.
COL enactments which will be considered in April 2019 were due to Rotary by the end of 2017, and none were submitted by our district.

Around the DistrictAlaska Project Honored
Susan Meskis, MSN, RN, shared that a project in Alaska – funded through a District grant – was selected to receive an honor from the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC).
In 2017, Susan was working in Alaska and saw the tremen-dous need for palliative care. Knowing that practice could never be changed without education, she orchestrated and led a team of ELNEC trainers in providing a two-day ELNEC course, hosted by the Alaska Native Medical Center. This course has laid the foundation for future discussions and palliative care projects throughout Alaska.
Says Susan, ”It is because of our great District and Fishers Rotary that this even happened.” The grant provided the education materials and many positives have resulted from the conference says Susan. “All in all, we are impacting Alaska and End of Life care!”
Around the DistrictAnderson Rotarian Publishes Book, Fumbled Call
A week before the 1962 Georgia-Alabama game, Atlanta insurance salesman George Burnett accidentally overheard a telephone conversation that became the center of an SEC scandal and captured national headlines. He thought he
overheard Wally Butts, the athletic director and ex-football coach of the University of Georgia, give his friend “Bear” Bryant, the Alabama coach, play formations and details that helped Alabama romp over Georgia 35-0 in the season opener. The story was published in the Satur-day Evening Post, which led to a libel lawsuit by Butts that was appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Anderson Rotarian David E. Sumner tells this true story after he researched more than 3,000 pages of letters, reports, memos, depositions, and trial transcripts. Professor Emeritus of Journalism at Ball State University, David’s book was ranked the #1 new release in ”Courts and Law” on Amazon in March 2018.

DG Bryce Adam attended the big shindig in Anderson on May 11 as the Rotary Club of Anderson celebrated “100 Years of Doing Good.” Rotary International President Ian Riseley was the keynote speaker for the evening as the Centennial Celebration highlighted the Rotary club’s commitment to service, Interact Club of Anderson’s 20 years of service, legacy projects, and women in Rotary.
