Lenten Sermon Series
"Followers”
You are invited to follow Jesus. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or haven’t done.
It doesn’t matter who you know or don’t know. It doesn’t matter how much you’ve been to church or haven’t been to church.
He invites everyone to a life of discipleship. The stories of Jesus in the New Testament show how his disciples followed him. Through this Lenten sermon series, we revisit their stories and think about how we can follow Jesus better here and now.
Mar. 1 “Follow” (1) (Matthew 9:9-13) Mar. 8 “Follow” (2) (Luke 5:1-11) Mar. 15 “Fearless” (Matthew 10:16-25) Mar. 22 “Follower Wear” (Colossians 3:12-17) Mar. 29 “The Cost of Discipleship” (Mark 8:34-37) April 5 “Surrender” (Matthew 26:6-16) April 9 (Holy Thursday) “Unfollow?” (John 6:56-71)

Scouting Ministries Sunday Highlights!
While we are saddened that Cub Pack and Boy Scout Troop 179 did not recharter this year, we were pleased to have a great representation of scouts assisting with the 10:50 service on Sunday. We were privileged to have 4 Girl Scout troops represented and 2 Cub Scout Packs and 2 (Boy) Scout Troops with us. Miakah McNatt sang "On My Honor" and Rev. Kristy used that theme for a "Time with Children." Another highlight was awarding the United Methodist Cross and Flame Award to Kathryn Zibell. This award identifies the recipient as one who has served children and youth and recog-nizes the unusual amount of time and energy dedicated to service of children and youth. The Cross and Flame is a unique symbol for an award. It is a powerful image. It relates the church to God through Christ (the cross) and the Holy Spirit (the flame). When it is given as an award, there is a clear message of gratitude for the connection of one's life to service and faith. We thank Kathryn for her faithful service to Avondale and to the scouting program.

Scouting Coordinator

Dear Rev. Kwon, Ruth Laningham, and members, Thanks for your support in helping me plant 4 trees - the project went great and thank you Mrs. Laningham for coming to watch us plant them. Luke Casebolt ——————————————————–———————————— Thanks to everyone that keeps me in their thoughts and prayers, for the letters and gifts, and for sponsoring me at Cursillo in February, and the transportation to and back. Melisa Strauss ————————————————————————————–—— Thank you from Vern and Harriett Linscott for prayers, cards and phone calls. Liz is doing better and Vern’s surgery is March 19. From Your Mission Committee: While the Chouteau Elementary students will enjoy their spring break, they may miss their hot breakfast and lunch each day. Traditionally the back-snack program sends extra food to families who will miss those meals --your extra donations to the food pantry will be appreci-ated. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Sunday will be March 22. Donations collected across the denom-ination on UMCOR Sunday fund the office work of UMCOR. This means 100% of other funds donated for disaster relief can go to help people in desperate need when a flood or tornado or typhoon or hurricane strikes.
