SEIQoL – THE TOOL

Interview-based instrument for measuring quality of life (QOL) of an individual

Helps get a better idea of what motivates each individual to do what they do, reflect on how

they feel about doing it and whether the things that matter are currently working or being

nurtured

Why choose to use SEIQoL

• It provides a snap shot• It’s a conversation starter• There are no wrong answers• Almost anyone can do it• It can be done any number of times• It can be done for any number of reasons

Page 4: Sei qo l general

What does it measure

• Those aspects of life (values) considered by the individual to be crucial to his/her quality of life.

• Current functioning/satisfaction with each identified aspect.

• The relative importance of each aspect of QOL is also measured.

Page 5: Sei qo l general

How does it work

• The SEIQoL-DW wheel has a set of measurements and so does the bar graph, a quality of life score can be calculated.

• This calculated score may then be used for analyses and to further grow the conversation. In many cases the score is much less relevant than the raised level of individual awareness.

• At the base of each column, write one of your 5 core values.

• Now draw a line across each column to indicate how satisfied or how well you think that value is being met.
