Chinook 1990—2004 CHINOOK was the founding wolf of CWWC and the reason why Darlene Kobobel was inspired to be a voice for wolves and wolf dogs. Chinook was our

educational Ambassador for the last 11 years, visit-ing countless schools, libraries and state parks help-

ing to promote wolf and wildlife awareness in our state. Chinook was a wonderful and patient steward who has helped to save the lives of many other ani-mals. Her memory will forever live on at our Center and she will always be spoken of as the “true” foun-

der of Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is #2-3)

“THE LOVERS” story will forever be told at CWWC. It’s a beautiful story of a wolf named Chinook who gave a

sad wolf named Nikita the will to live after he had been locked in a 5’ x 8’ crate for three years of his life. When

Nikita saw Chinook...it was LOVE at first sight! Nikita will always remain in love with his queen and he will

meet her again one day at the rainbow bridge. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is #15-1)

NIKITA is a handsome arctic wolf that was rescued from a 5’ x 8’ wooden crate in which he was kept for three years. In that three years time, his back legs lost all muscle, his toe nails grew too

long and he lost his faith in humans. The day Nikita was rescued he was introduced to Chinook. He was smitten with her immedi-ately. Today, Nikita is one of the Center’s strongest and healthi-est wolves and he fully enjoys his spacious one-acre enclosure.

Picture #:________ (Picture displayed is #5-6)

PRINCESS was surrendered to CWWC in June of 2004 to serve as a new companion to Nikita after his mate, Chinook, passed away.

Princess is an energetic young female who tries to constantly remind Nikita that life is too short to remain sad. Princess is a

submissive, playful female who adores all whom she meets. We are hoping she may have Ambassador potential; but most impor-

tantly we hope she remains a faithful friend to Nikita. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is #14-1)

AKELA was rescued from Hollywood with her sister, Makah Behr, at 2 weeks of age. Akela lives up to her Hollywood origin as we call her the “Barbie Doll” of CWWC. She has beautiful platinum fur, long legs and an elegant strut that would charm any wolf!

Akela has a feminine demeanor that is just too pretty for words. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is # 1-7)

DAKARI was rescued with his companion, Akina, from a “guaranteed hunt” farm. Dakari’s name means

“happiness” in the African language and he truly exhib-its the cunningness and intelligence of the too often

misunderstood coyote. Dakari now helps us to teach people to better understand coyotes, and helps us

appreciate their value in our ecosystems. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is # 12-2)

AKINA, whose name is Japanese for “spring flower,” is our shy female coyote. Rescued from the “canned hunt” industry, she spends her days peacefully in a one-acre enclosure with Dakari, where they are assured safety from trophy hunters. Although Akina is shy and distant, you can’t miss her dramatic “yips” in our morn-ing choir practice! Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is # 12-4)

YUMA is our proud “daddy” fox. After his mate, Malika, passed away, he was left to raise 5 kits on his own. He

has stepped up to fatherhood with great proudness and tenderness. Don’t let him fool you, however. Two of Yuma’s favorite past times are stealing hair ties and any goodies you may have hidden in your jacket pock-

ets! You can’t “out fox” this fox! Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is # 13-8)

MALIKA was our cherished “princess” fox. She and Yuma were rescued from the fur industry where they would have been origi-

nally electrocuted at 9 months of age so humans could wear their fur. Malika was a red fox genetically altered to be white for hu-man selfishness. When she gave birth to her 5 kits in March 2004, her little body could not support them and she passed

away. Although the pregnancy was due to our error, it just further proves how man’s selfishness and genetic alteration can cause

devastation to wild animals. Picture #:________ (Picture displayed is # 13-1)

YUKON, rescued from a photography farm, is our quintessential wolf. He has stunning good looks that have been the focus of

many pictures taken by both amateur and professional photogra-phers. Yukon resides with his shy mate, Makah Behr, and he will always represent the natural magnificence of a wolf you would see

in the wild. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is #11-5)

MAKAH BEHR is our shy and gentle arctic female. She and her sister, Akela, were rescued from a Hollywood breeder at just 2

weeks of age. They were accidental births and were going to be euthanized. Today, Makah Behr resides in a one-acre enclosure with Yukon who she is head over heals in love with. We call her

“punkin face” due to her gentle and sweet spirit. Although Makah Behr is shy with strangers, she displays pure love with those she is

comfortable with. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is #3-2)

TROUBLES is the resident thief of CWWC! Don’t let his inviting ice blue eyes and innocent gazes fool you. He has been known to steal cameras, gloves, shoes, tools

and more. Volunteers need to keep a watchful eye while in his enclosure! Troubles and his mate, Bandit,

are known as the “Bonnie and Clyde” of CWWC. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is#9-3)

BANDIT is the vociferous old lady of the Center. She is 15 years old and we call her “grandmother wolf.” She and her mate Troubles were surrendered to CWWC in

1993 after being used as a breeding pair. Bandit is the one to start the daily howling at the Center and AL-WAYS the first one to tell you when it’s dinner time!

This old lady has a dynamic and unforgettable person-ality! Picture #:________ (Picture displayed is #9-5)

WAKANDA and his brother Shunka were rescued from Washington State as accidental pregnancies. Wakanda’s arctic/timber fea-tures are distinctive as he has a reddish blonde coat and a mas-sive appearance. He is always ready for rambunctious play with his mate, Akela, and he loves to climb in his favorite “crooked tree.” Wakanda is one of a kind and a new favorite to CWWC

visitors. Picture #:________ (Picture displayed is #10-5)

Please indicate the photo number next to the wolf you wish to sponsor. If you do not select a photo, we will choose one for you.

SHUNKA is the newest Ambassador Wolf for CWWC. He is an arctic/timber cross which contributes to his large

features and reddish color. Shunka and his brother Wakanda were rescued from Washington State at 3

weeks of age. He is 130 lbs and stands 33 inches tall at the shoulder. We call him our “gentle giant.” Every

kiss from Shunka exudes pure love. Picture #:________

(Picture displayed is #8-1)

MIKA is our ebony spitfire. She was rescued in spring of 2002, right before the Center experienced an

evacuation during the Hayman Fire. Mika has had an exciting time with us! Today, Mika resides with Shunka

in a one-acre enclosure and she has proven to be a favorite amongst visitors. She charms everyone with

her playful personality. Picture #:________ (Picture displayed is #4-4)

SABIN was rescued at 3 months of age from a college dorm; where he was kept in the bathroom all day and fed pizza as his

primary diet. Since his rescue, Sabin has established himself as a very proud Alpha male. He left school smarter than the kids who

kept him there! Sabin’s majestic, silvery appearance reveals years of proud dedication to his pack.

Picture #:________ (Picture displayed is #7-2)

RAVEN is our illusive, untamed and most photographed female. Raven’s name was given to her because of the noble black birds

who like to frequently visit her. It is like they, as well as many others, are drawn to her mysterious beauty. We are convinced that Raven is full of secrets that only Mother Nature is privy to.
