1. Early in the morning I concentrate upon that enchantinglotus like visage of Shree Lalita whose lips are deep redlike the Bimba flower, the nose bedight with a pearlpendant; whose eyes are big as to be spreading up to theears wearing the jewelled rings and whose forehead has acomely musk mark. Her smiling face appears verycaptivating.

2. I concentrate early in the morning on the svelt-creeperlike comely arms of Shree Lalita Devi whose hands arebedight with the red ring worn on her fingers and with thejewel embedded gold bangles (on the wrist). Her handshold the bow made of the sugarcane of red variety, thearrow made of flowers and a cumulus.

4. I hymn early in the morning to the virtues of ShreeLalita Bhavan, whose very appearance ensures supremewelfare to all and the glory of her resourcefulness iscopiously described by the Vedas and the Vedant-philosophy; who is pure and pious being of auspiciousform and who is the root cause of the creation, maintenance and destruction of the entire world. She is thepresiding deity of all knowledge and whose full glory isunfathomable even for the Vedas, speech, and mind.

Neither father nor mother, neither relative nor donor, neither son nor daughter, neither servants nor husband, neither lineage nor knowledge, and not even my age-increment, but O Bhavanı! Indeed, only You are thecourse of souls in metempsychosis.[1]

I — who is lustful, who is greedy, who is mad-dened, and who is always tied by the lasso of worldly-existence — am scared of immense-pain in this oceanof metempsychosis. O Bhavanı! Indeed, only You arethe course of souls in metempsychosis.[2]

I don’t know the act of giving and also meditationor penance; I don’t know tantra (techniques) and alsoeulogies or chanting; I don’t know to honor and alsoabandoning self into service. [But still] O Bhavanı!Indeed, only You are the course of souls in metempsy-chosis.[3]

O Mother! I don’t know good deeds or shrines; Idon’t know salvation and I somewhat understand spir-itual indifference; I don’t know devotion or penance, but still O Mother Bhavanı! Indeed, only You are thecourse of souls in metempsychosis.[4]

I am always engrossed in bad deeds, in bad company,in bad thinking; I am a bad servant [of Yours] and I lackthe conduct of my lineage; I am engrossed in bad con-duct, and I have a bad [spiritual]-vision; O Bhavanı!Indeed, only You are the course of souls in metempsy-chosis.[5]

I don’t know Brahma, Vis.n. u, Siva, Indra,Surya, Candra, or someone else. I don’t know ev-eryone else, and O Bhavanı, Who is the refuge! In-deed, only You are the course of my soul in metempsy-chosis.[6]

You are my incessant protection in dispute, in un-happy moments, in rage and madness, in foreign-residence, in water-deluge, in fire-outrage, in moun-tains, or in forests. O Bhavanı, Who is the refuge!Indeed, only You are the course of souls in metempsy-chosis.[7]

I, who is an orphan, who is poor, who is associatedwith old-age and illness, who has a pale-face, and whois very weak and destitute, is always in the middle oftroubles and destroyed. O Bhavanı! Indeed, only Youare the course of souls in metempsychosis.[8]

Q: What is the significance of the Siddha Kunjika Stotram ?A: This is the essence of the Chandi, the Navarna Mantra, the constant reminderthat change She will, change She must, because change is Her intrinsic Nature.

Q: What is the meaning of Kunjika in the Siddha Kunjika Stotram?A: Kunjika literally means something overgrown or hidden by growth orgrowing things. Siddha means perfection. Stotram is the song. The Song of Perfection which is no longer hidden because of growth. That is, our spiritual growth and understanding of the Chandi exposesthe hidden meanings of the bija mantras in the Song.

Q: When to recite kunjika stotatram ?A: Recite especially when one does not have time or do not want to chantthe entire long Durga SaptaShati/Chandi Path. The SiddhaKunjika Stotra itself says at the begining that no argala or kilak stotra andother related matters is needed if one recites Siddha Kunjika Stotra. Kunjika, there is Devi in the form of Chamunda . Not only it works for Navaratri , it isto be chanted at the junction when Ashtami leaves and enters Navami . 24 minsbefore Ashtami ends to 24 mins after navami starts, is the time when Devi takesthe form of Chamunda and had got to be chanted no matter the count to exhaust 48mins .Q: How to Count 48 minutesA: Each Tithi lasts for 24 hours . If for example, the Navami starts at 21.30 pmin the night then you should start at 21.06 (which is Ashtami ) andcontinue untill 21.54 pm, that 48 mins is called Sandhi kShaN or periodof transit, when Devi in the form of Chamunda is killing Chandaand Munda (the demons). That is regarded as the most auspiscioustime of Navaratri as Devi is ready to give boon after Sandhi kShaN
