Begin at the 1 Lasry Center for Bioscience on Maywood Street. this state-of-the-art, “green” building is the hub of scientific research on campus, including studies of the threespine stickleback fish and the evolution of fungi.

Head across Maywood Street to the 2 Higgins University Center (also known as the U.C.). You’ll pass the Sackler Sciences Center and Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics Building on your left once you go through the two pillars. Inside the U.C. is the main dining hall and the 3 Bistro, which was recently renovated and features four dining platforms.

at the top of the large staircase in the U.C., you’ll find student mailboxes and offices for many of Clark’s 130+ student clubs and organizations.

FA S T FA C TSigmund Freud gave five influential lectures on psychoanalysis in 1909 at Clark—his one and only speaking engagement at an american university.

Head through the tunnel to the other side of the U.C., and through the walkway of trees you’ll see 4 Red Square, the center of activity on campus. there, you’ll also find a larger-than-life statue of Sigmund Freud.

Pull back from red Square and the Freud statue and get a beautiful view of 5 Jonas Clark Hall (J.C.), named after Clark’s founder. Many of the classes in the Program of liberal Studies take place in J.C. on the other side of the campus green, you’ll see the 6 Jefferson Academic Center, where Cinema 320 presents a series of acclaimed independent films (some foreign) during the academic year.

FA S T FA C TJonas Clark Hall is the oldest building on campus, dating back to when the University was established as a graduate-only institution in 1887.

FA S T FA C Tthe library is named for Dr. Robert Goddard, Clark physicist and father of modern rocketry, who tested his first liquid-fueled rocket on campus in 1925.

Go behind J.C. and check out the 7 Robert Hutchings Goddard Library. In addition to the 375,000 volumes contained in the library’s collection, Clark students can borrow from the libraries at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the College of the Holy Cross. the first-floor Academic Commons area features computer labs, quiet study spaces and Jazzman’s Café.

Student security for these residence halls is enhanced by a fleet of student safety escort vans, walking escorts during the evening hours, and our on-campus police force.

near this campus cross section rests 8 Wright Hall, one of Clark’s first-year residence halls. trek behind Goddard library and you’ll see a 9 Blue Emergency Telephone. Why do we highlight this one small feature of campus? at Clark, student safety is a top priority. (and actually, there are 27 of these blue telephones on campus.)

Continue along Downing Street and you’ll reach the 10 Kneller Athletic Center. enter the den of the Cougars and our 17 nCaa Division III sports programs. Inside, you’ll also find the Bickman Fitness Center; basketball, racquetball and squash courts; and a competition-size swimming pool.

keep going north on Downing Street and take a look at the 11 Traina Center for the Arts,home to Clark’s art history, screen studies, and studio art programs. Inside is a photography lab, printmaking studio, computer media lab, and film editing suite.

as you turn around and head back to campus, take a detour to Charlotte Street to see 12 Estabrook Hall, which houses programs in foreign languages and music, and 13   Little Center, featuring programs in theater arts.

the 15 Dolan Field House serves as a support facility for fall and spring athletic teams, complementing the new outdoor spaces and fields. the field house provides indoor practice space, a training room, locker rooms for Clark teams, and general locker rooms. the outdoor grounds are also available for intramural activities, club sports, and other recreational and neighborhood programs.

FA S T FA C Tthe thomas M. and Joan e. Dolan Field House officially opened in spring 2003. the facility is named after Clark alumni tom (’62, M.a.ed. ’63) and Joan (’60, M.a.ed. ‘74) Dolan. tom was inducted into the athletics Hall of Fame in october 2009.
