UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO MISSISSAUGASELF-GUIDED WALKING TOURThis self-guided walking tour will take about one hour to complete. Your starting point is the STUDENT RECRUITMENT & ADMISSIONS OFFICE [A].

Please note: While certain buildings are home to different departments, UTM students have class in all buildings across campus!

[A] - INNOVATION COMPLEX & KANEFF CENTRE Fully integrated with the two-storey Kaneff Centre, the Innovation Complex is a new four-level structure that houses the campus’ signature centre for management education and the Institute for Management & Innovation. This 6,300-square-metre hub for teaching, research, administration and social activities is home to the Office of the Registrar, the Department of Economics, Department of Management and the Li Koon Chun Finance Learning Centre. It houses case-study rooms, behavioral research labs and a bright rotunda for gathering and studying.

The Innovation Complex is home to the Innovation Cube (I-CUBE) and Blackwood Gallery. Located on the lower level, the I-CUBE offers early-stage business development and commercialization services. It is a space for innovative students and community partners to engage in entrepreneurial activities. The Blackwood Gallery is a contemporary art gallery that presents curated exhibitions featuring the work of local, national, and international professional artists.

[A1] – OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR Located in the Innovation Complex, the Office of the Registrar provides a variety of student services. Our advisors can help you plan your academic career, explain scholarships and student loans, and answer questions about registration.

[B] - STUDENT CENTRE Built as a hub for U of T Mississauga students, the Student Centre is home to the University of Toronto Mississauga Student Union (UTMSU), the

[I1] - TCARD OFFICELocated at Computing Services, this is where you’ll get your student ID. Your TCard provides identification for campus activities, services, and facility access. With your TCard, you will be able to access the U of T library system, athletic centres and shuttle bus services.

Continue walking down the hall and exit the CCT building. Turn left on the five minute walk, and into the William G. Davis Building. Once inside the building, walk through the doors and turn right. You have entered...

[J] – WILLIAM G. DAVIS BUILDING - THE MEETING PLACEBuilt in 1974, this open area with seating and skylights is a great place to meet with your peers. This is the home of our Temporary Food Court (TFC), which boasts diverse culinary options! This is the place to get a post work-out Booster Juice, or enjoy food and drink from Tim Hortons, Pizza Pizza, Tandori, or the International Kitchen before heading to class!

[J1] - ACCESSABILITY RESOURCE CENTRE This centre provides services for students with disabilities. Services include note-taking and special accommodations for exams. This is also a great place to volunteer!

[J2] - U OF T MISSISSAUGA BOOKSTORE & COMPUTER SHOP This is where you can buy or rent your textbooks! (You can also purchase online.) U of T gear is available, as well as stationery, computers, accessories, magazines, novels and snacks.

[J3] - HEALTH AND COUNSELLING CENTREThis clinic works like a typical doctor’s office with doctors, registered nurses and counselors. Health and dental insurance is included in your student fees, but you can “opt-out” — receive reimbursement — if you’re covered by another plan.

[J4] – CAMPUS POLICE You will find the Campus Police station located on the third floor. Campus Police answer the emergency telephones on campus, escort students after dark and patrol the campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

[J5] - CAREER CENTRE This centre offers great services that you can start using right away. In addition to career planning, they can help you find a summer or part-time job through postings in the office and online. U of T Mississauga students have access to the Career Centre for up to two years after graduation.

[K] – RECREATION, ATHLETICS & WELLNESS CENTRE The Recreation, Athletics and Wellness Centre (RAWC) is a facility with state-of-the-art equipment for all U of T Mississauga students. It includes an eight-lane swimming pool, an indoor track overlooking the gym and weight training facilities. Check out the Fitness Stop, which has cardio, rowing, step and treadmill machines. There are also three squash courts, a High Performance Centre and a gymnasium. The RAWC hosts competitive sports at Varsity, tri-campus and intramural levels. The Teaching Studio hosts year-round fitness classes such as yoga, Pilates and kick-boxing. We have both Women’s Only Gym Hours and Residence Gym Nights. Membership is included in your student fees.

At the Student Centre, you will also find:

• UTM BikeShare: Free 48-hour bicycle rental service • Multi-faith Space: A facility for members of all faiths to practice their

religion. • CFRE Radio: The student-run campus radio station. • Fireplace Lounge: A cozy place to study! • Sexual Education Centre (S.E.C.): Provides students with education &

resources on healthy sexuality. Welcomes all backgrounds and sexualities. • Presentation Room: Weekly movie nights and special events are held here

(coffee houses, poster sales, job fairs). • Clubs: There are over 100 recognized clubs and societies on campus – you

can even start own! This is a great way to get involved on campus.

[C] - TRANSPORTATION ON CAMPUS Our expanded, heated bus shelters ensure a comfortable commuter experience. MiWay (Mississauga Transit) links to the Toronto subway system, GO Transit, Brampton Transit and Oakville Transit. Undergraduate students at the University of Toronto Mississauga are eligible for the U-Pass which provides unlimited ridership from September to April on MiWay. There is so much to explore in Mississauga and the communities that surround us!

Walk along the path behind the Academic Annex, and enter Oscar Peterson Hall on your right.

[D] - RESIDENCE OFFICE (AT OSCAR PETERSON HALL) U of T Mississauga is home to residences where every student has a single bedroom! We offer three residence styles: apartments, townhouses and dormitories. Apartments and townhouses accommodate four students per unit, and each unit is complete with kitchen (with stove and refrigerator), living area, four bedrooms, and two bathrooms (townhouses have one bathroom). Our dorms feature two single rooms with bathroom facilities shared with one other student. Our dorms also have common rooms and laundry facilities on each floor! Each apartment floor and townhouse row has their own first year leader who facilitates various events, and supports students through the successes and challenges of their first year at UTM. All units have wireless Internet access.

Exit through the other side (to the left of the Residence Service Desk). Walk

across the foot bridge, and turn left at the fork. You will see Erindale Hall (another residence) on your right hand side, and Erindale Studio Theatre straight ahead.

[E] - ERINDALE STUDIO THEATRE Spend an evening at the theatre in this versatile and intimate 85-seat black box studio. With a six show season featuring the talents of our third and fourth-year Theatre & Drama students, you’re in for a great time!

[F] – DEERFIELD HALL (NORTH BUILDING)The North Building was the original building when U of T Mississauga first opened in 1967 with 400 students. Deerfield Hall is the first phase of a redeveloped North Building that features four storeys with new theatre rehearsal space, computer labs, classrooms, and study space. It incorporates energy-efficient lighting and a green roof. The Departments of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, Psychology, and English and Drama have offices and research facilities in the renovated space. Deerfield Hall is also home to the North Side Bistro-complete with a wood fire oven and roasted on-site coffee. This is also the location of the UTM shuttle bus to Sheridan College in Oakville.

[G] - INSTRUCTIONAL CENTRE Opened in 2011, this eco-friendly building is 100% dedicated to teaching and studying. It houses a full range of state-of-the-art classrooms varying in size from 30 seats to a 500-seat auditorium, dedicated study space including collaborative and private rooms, and a computer lab. This is also where you’ll find the UTM shuttle bus stop to the St. George campus in downtown Toronto.

[H] – HAZEL MCCALLION ACADEMIC LEARNING CENTRE (LIBRARY)Our library is one of more than 40 libraries at the University of Toronto – the largest library system in Canada, and ranked third in North America just behind Harvard and Yale! As a U of T student, you have access to the entire U of T library system, as well as the Interlibrary Loan service which is a gateway to the collections of the world. Plus, there is an enormous collection of e-resources available online, including journals and e-books. You may reserve study rooms online at the library on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also borrow a laptop to conduct research or complete a project. Need a study break? You can pop out to the Starbucks coffee shop next door.

[H1] - ROBERT GILLESPIE ACADEMIC SKILLS CENTRE The Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre is here to help you make the transition from high school to university by providing support to help students study effectively. The centre also runs the Head Start program in August to help students learn valuable study skills for success at university. Continue down the hallway. [I] - CCT BUILDINGHome of the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information & Technology (ICCIT), this building includes one of U of T Mississauga’s largest lecture theatres (500 seats), the Multimedia Studio Theatre (MiST), and 24-hour computer labs.
