What is self publishing?

• Getting a book published without using a major publishing company

• You do all of the work yourself (or you hire out some of it to other people)

• You pay for the publishing – you are not getting paid

Traditional Self Publishing

• You write it, edit it, design it, and market it yourself

• You contact someone to print it• Have 1,000 copies sitting in your garage

Modern Self Publishing

• You still write the story• You can still edit it, but there are online

services that can do that for you• You can pay $ to have the cover designed or

you can use simple cover creators• Print-On-Demand (POD) means that books are

only printed when someone orders them• You can conceivably publish a full-fledged

book and pay $0
