Description:
SSC is short for Gondwana's Self Sufficiency Centre, a small farming operation which keeps chickens, pigs and cattle and also runs hothouses, a butchery, smokehouse and cheese dairy. The SSC is situated on the fringes of the village of Stampriet east of Mariental, in the fertile valley of the seasonal Auob River in the midst of the Kalahari Desert. The valley has strong artesian wells. The SSC supplies our accommodation facilities with fresh vegetables and fruit as well as cheese, cold meats and fresh meat - venison in particular. In addition, each of the accommodation establishments keeps pigs for utilizing kitchen waste and hothouses for growing herbs and lettuce.
