Creating an Etsy Store

•First become a site member- Only registered members can create a shop

Register

•Click on the "Open a Shop" button at the bottom of the Etsy homepage and follow the prompts for creating a shop

Create Your Shop •Etsy requires an unique name

for all of the stores- It’s not uncommon for sellers to find that their first choice is unavailable

•Choose a name that’s interesting and memorable while representing the unique goods being sold

Titles for listings can have no more than 140 characters

Select the appropriate categories and subcategories

Determine in which section of the shop to place the product- Each shop may have up to 10 custom sections

When pricing and setting the shipping policy keep on mind Etsy’s $0.20 to list fee and the 3.5% purchase fee

A Treasury:

A collection of items from other Etsy shops– not your own

Includes no more than one item from any shop and the maximum of 16 items

They are often built around a specific theme It is a good way to get exposure and network

You can create an unlimited number

No guarantee a Treasury will lead to a direct increase in sales

Listing another shop’s item can lead to shop owners promoting your

listings in their Treasury lists as well

If other shop owners end-up following your shop, any new listings will appear in their activity feed and

in the activity feed anyone who follow them

Treasury listings can show-up in search results leading people to your

Treasury and to your shop

Treasuries can be promoted on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.- The

goal is to lead people back to your shop

Etsy Payment & Fees

Etsy offers a comprehensive ecommerce platform and payment system with a low cost of

entryIt costs sellers $0.20 per item to be listed and there is also a 3.5%

transaction fee

If sellers use Etsy's "Direct Checkout“ the fee is 3% on each

transaction

Etsy fees do not include any fees that PayPal, Credit Cards, or

Banks may charge

PayPal Charges a flat rate of $.30 per

transaction  Plus 2.7% of the total money collected

from the value of both the item price and shipping 

PayPal takes the fees out and adds the remainder to your PayPal balance

The money can transfer easily to your regular checking or savings account

Direct Checkout Charges a flat rate of $.25 per transaction  Plus 3% of the total money collected from the

value of both the item price and shipping  Etsy collects the fees before making the

remainder amount available in your Shop Payment Account

Deposits are made weekly into a bank account of your choice

Additional deposits may be made by clicking on the deposit button
