Our approach consists in using donor groups, typically phosphines, to support original metal / ligand interactions. This strategy was first used to investigate the coordination of Lewis acids as sigma-acceptor ligands (Z-type ligands). We are now extrapolating this approach to the coordination and activation of inert sigma-bonds. This presentation will sumarize our last results in these two projects. Particular attention will be devoted to the structure of the isolated complexes that will be discussed on the basis of spectroscopic, crystallographic and computational data.
