4. How?: Tutorials and Key Steps

• Advanced: Frontpage Extensions allow you to publish your site directly from the FrontPage application. This means that you will not have to upload files through FTP, or another method.

• Databases: There are two ways to create a MySQL database The easiest way to create a MySQL database is to use the MySQL Database Wizard built directly into the cPanel interface. The second way involves a few more steps, but does not require you to go through the wizard.

• Files: The File Manager is a tool you can use to navigate your way through your web hosting account and view directories, create directories (folders), upload/delete/view/edit files, view the size of your directories/files, rename files/directories, and see the permissions of your files/directories. See next slide.

• Logs: Webalizer is a complex stats program that produces a variety of charts and graphs about who has visited your site.

4. How?: Tutorials and Key Steps

• Mail: A mailing list can simplify sending messages to a large Mail group of people. You can add a group of email addresses to a mailing list to avoid typing in those addresses each time a mailing is sent. This can be very useful when sending newsletters or other updates to large groups of people.

• Preferences: cPanel 11 has a built-in wizard that can help you configure your control panel quickly. The "Getting Started Wizard" provides seven (7) configuration sections you can take step-by-step to get your system configured properly.

• Security: SSH allows secure file transfer and remote logins over the internet.

• Software: WordPress is a PHP/MySQL based blog you can use on your web site for blogging. See next slide.
