MPL Free Development Program (cont.)

MPL Free Development Software License• Each license includes a full-size version of the MPL software,

including some or all of the options available, Database Connection, OptiMax Component Library, and Stochastic Extensions.

• The MPL Free Development software can be installed on any machine that you formulate models on, including your own personal computer. You will need to request a separate license for each computer.

• The MPL Free Development software is allowed to be used for developing and formulating optimization models that are ultimately intended to be used for commercial use. But, it is NOT allowed to use the MPL Free Development software to get optimization results that are then for business purposes.

• Each MPL Free Development license is time-limited (typically 6-12 months). The time period is determined by Maximal Software based on the information provided by the applicant on the application form. At the end of the time period, the applicant can re-apply for extension of the license.

MPL Free Development Program

Solvers• The free development version of MPL currently comes with a

open-source solver CoinMP.

• Other solvers supported by MPL, for example CPLEX, GUROBI, XPRESS, LINDO, XA, SULUM, CONOPT, KNITRO, and LGO, will also work with the free development version, but will have to be acquired separately, either from their respective vendor or from Maximal Software.

Technical Support• We will try our best to respond to any technical support requests

regarding the installation and use of the MPL Free Development software, but please note that since the access to the software is provided for free, there is obviously going to be some limitations on how much support we can give. If you think you will require receiving technical support, you still have the option of purchasing the MPL software with maintenance contract.
