AUG 2018 INFORMATION UPDATE #6 WHERE YOUR FUTURE BEGINS SENIOR COLLEGE Year 11 & 12 Colours Evenings On Tuesday, 21 August (Year 11 Colours) and 28 August (Year 12 Colours), over 350 parents, students and staff attended the final two Colours Evenings for 2018. One hundred and fifty two students were recognised over the two nights and awarded Colours badges and certificates for their excellent achievement in a range of fields including performance, community work, endeavour and academic results. The events were well supported by parents, family and staff and all were entertained by our Music students. The guest speakers were Mike de Wet ( Year 11 Colours), a 2012 graduate, who has become a successful DJ/Producer and Nicholle Harris (Year 12 Colours), a 2011 graduate and Full Colours recipient who studied a Bachelor of Commerce at UWA. Both speakers inspired the students and parents with their speech about their respective journeys since leaving the College. The College would like to thank our Board Members, Prof. Steve Chapman, ECU Vice Chancellor and Ms Leanne Shepherd for taking the time to attend. Congratulations to all the students who achieved Colours, and in particular to our students from our graduating class of 2018 who achieved Full Colours. These students will be recognised again at their Presentation Evening on Wednesday, 24 October and their names will appear on the College’s Full Colours Honour Board in the Atrium. Full Colours Awards are given to students who have received at least one Colours award each semester in Year 11 and in first semester in Year 12. Year 11 & 12 Colours EveningsOn Tuesday, 21 August (Year 11 Colours) and 28 August (Year 12 Colours), over 350 parents, students and staff attended the final two Colours Evenings for 2018. Term 4 Start Date - Monday, 8 OctoberParents are reminded that all Year 11 students return to school on Monday, 8 October for the start of Term 4.

YEAR 12 INFORMATION

September School Holiday ATAR Revision CoursesMastermind Australia will again be delivering ATAR Revision and Exam Preparation programs during the September school holidays for Year 12 students. These seminars are designed to prepare students for their upcoming exams. As the College has partnered with Master Mind Australia to offer these programs, Mindarie SC students only pay $60 per subject (6 hours of tuition). The normal price of these programs is $105 per subject. The presenters are experienced ATAR teachers and most are WACE examination markers. Enrolments should be made online at http://www.mastermindaustralia.com.au/

All Year 12 ATAR students are encouraged to attend these seminars.To receive the discounted price it is important not to pay online, but to pay Mastermind Australia over the phone to identify that you are paying for a Mindarie SC student.All ATAR students have received a flyer that outlines this process step by step. This information can be found on the College webpage under ‘Current Students’ and ‘Year 12 ATAR Revision Courses’.

Year 12 Exam InformationThe Semester 2, Year 12 College Exams for students will commence on Monday, 1 October (2nd week of Term 3 school holidays) and continue until Friday, 12 October. It is extremely important that parents do not book holidays during these exam periods.

The closing date for ticket purchase is 3.30pm on Thursday, 13 September. Students will not be permitted to attend without a ticket and there will be no door sales on the day. Tickets can be purchased via the College webpage or from the Front Office for $10.00. The College is subsiding the event to encourage students to attend.

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENINGSustainability ExpoOn Thursday, 9 August, the College held the fifth annual Sustainability Expo. The event was organised by Year 12 Sustainability Mentor and also incorporated work from the Year 11 ATAR Health Studies students. The Expo recognises the importance of sustainability and celebrates our contribution to make a more sustainable place for everyone. The focus of the Expo was on environmental issues including recycling and up-cycling, microorganisms and eco systems and preserving our endangered native animals. This year, Kinross College and Kinross Primary had displays for students to explore.

The College would like to acknowledge Mayor Tracey Roberts JP, City of Wanneroo Major and Chair of the College Board and Mr Mark Folkard MLA, Member for Burns Beach, for taking the time to attend the Expo.Congratulations to Elise Gaglio and Tracy Smith and their Sustainability Mentor students along with the Year 11 ATAR Health Studies students for a very successful event.

Year 12 ATAR - TISC Information (Tertiary Institutions Service Centre)

The online University application process closes on Friday, 28 September.

Year 12 ATAR students have received a TISC handbook to guide them through the University/TISC online application process. Students can collect the handbook from the Careers Centre in the Senior Research Area in the North Block.

The application fee is $40 until 8 September, after this date a late fee of $160 applies.
