Sense of Urgency as a Culture
We agree to make sense of urgency a habit. To act now than later. To
participate and dedicate one’s effort to achieve a common goal.

What is Sense of Urgency?
Urgency is of pressing importance
Sense of Urgency is that in-built impulse you get when something needs to be done and you feel it needs to be done now.
Makes you get up and take the action necessary to see the thing through to completion.

What are the common problems observed in
PIC concerning sense of urgency?
| PHILIPPINE IINO CORPORATION
Complacency
is a feeling of contentment or self satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger or trouble.
| PHILIPPINE IINO CORPORATION
Identifying Complacency
• Content with Status Quo; Irrationally afraid of the personal consequences of change.
• Do not alertly look for new opportunities or hazards facing the organization.
• They do what has worked for them in the past.

Sources of Complacency
• No highly visible crisis existed.• The meeting was taking place in a room which
screamed “SUCCESS”.• Standards being set were far from high.• The organizational structure focused most on
people’s attention on narrow functional goals instead of broad business performance.
• Various internal planning and control systems were rigged.
• Performance Feedback• False sense of security

False Urgency
It can be a recipe for making poor decisions and wasting a lot more time later. Pushing to “go fast” can actually slow things down.
A sense of urgency that is impatience, and is always overbooked.
It keep us from putting our energy into the right things at the right time.

Identifying False Urgency
• Statements like “we need to move forward and make a decision.”
• Urge the group to quickly move to taking action to get results.
• Impatient to solutions periodically making short-cuts and making it as a usual part of the system.
• Activities that creates personal stress, both physical and psychological, which also hinders our creativity and access to greater clarity.
• Always practice let’s do tomorrow syndrome.

Source of False Urgency• Results of failures or some form of intense pressure that
is put on a group.• Do not think that all is well; they think the situation they
are in is a mess.• Tend to be anxious, angry, frustrated and tired.• Behave in ways that can easily be mistaken for people
with a real sense of urgency because they are very active.• Actions tends to be more focus on the activity rather than
being productive.• Non decisive and excessive meetings after meetings.
