F 1882-84 Wmk 33 (V2) 2d mauve Mixed Perfs 12x12x12x12½ SG 211c, remarkably well centred for a stamp that has been perforated by two machines, light numeral cancellation, grossly undercatalogued at £750. Unique!: acquired for $3105 at our auction of 12/5/2007. Ex Rodney Perry. RPSofV Certificate (1997). [Kellow at page 202 refers to a single example Perf 12½ all round additionally Perf 12 at Top as being the only Mixed Perf stamp then recorded in this issue. Imagine what this item would be worth if it was the only recorded example of a 19th century American stamp!]

P 1901-10 V/Crown KEVII £1 perforated colour trial in carmine-pink (close to the issued colour) on ungummed thick unwatermarked wove paper BW #V125PP(1)L, minor shallow thin at top that in no way detracts from the exceptional facial appearance of this rare Commonwealth Period proof, Cat $10,000. Ex Ronald Harrison and Max Watson.

The ACSC states that only two examples in the issued colour are recorded: this is actually a brighter shade than the issued stamps, "carmine-pink", rather than the issued "carmine-rose". In his "Stamps of Victoria", Kellow refers to a set of 12 colour trials: "All these are more or less damaged..." At the time of writing, Kellow was unaware of the group of proofs to One Pound that Max Watson had acquired in the 1970s from the family of Ronald Harrison.
