This morning and we commence our journey south. Our first stop will be at the Glengailan Homestead & Heritage Centre for morning tea and a tour. After more than 70 years of decline and dereliction, Glengailan emerges from the ruins of the 1867 sandstone mansion as a unique heritage experience. Walk through time and re-live the Glengailan story from squattocracy to farmer settlement. An innovative interpretation allows Glengailan to evolve with time as old photographs and documents shed more light on life in what was once described as "the finest house in the colony". Our next stop is the Wailangarra Railway Station Cafe for lunch. Take 10 minutes to look at this little museum. This fascinating railway station tells the story of the rivalries between Queensland and New South Wales before the establishment of the Commonwealth of Australia on 1 January 1901. Inspect the building and register that the Wailangarra railway station was built astride the state border with a single island platform with one building, with the western side for the narrow-gauge line from Queensland and the eastern side for the standard gauge line from New South Wales. After lunch we make our way to Glen Innes and the Australian Standing Stones at (Martins Lookout. Continuing to Armidale our overnight stop and time permitting we stop at the Apex Lookout which offers views of the whole city.
