September 20, 2016 Dear Student, Have you ever considered a career as a cosmetologist or hair stylist? Would you like to acquire training in hair care, treatments, cutting, and coloring? If so – GREAT NEWS – you can begin this training while still in high school! Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast (OSTC-NE) has an excellent Cosmetology program for Oakland County high school juniors and seniors. High school students can earn hours toward the state-mandated 1500 hours of instruction, graduate from high school, and pursue post-secondary education opportunities toward their Cosmetology License from the State of Michigan. If this program sounds like something you would enjoy and it aligns with your career goals, please plan to attend our Cosmetology Information Night for interested students and your parents/guardians. The Cosmetology Information Night will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Our campus partners with all Oakland County high schools and we are located at 1371 North Perry Street, Pontiac, MI 48340. So we can plan accordingly, please RSVP by Friday, November 11, 2016 either by phone (248.451.2710) or via email ([email protected]). Oakland Schools Cosmetology Program

Cosmetology is a 1500-hour program. For a student to complete the state hours required and to be eligible to test for the State Board Exam by the end of his or her senior year, below is the pathway option that we recommend:

Three weeks of summer school between Sophomore and Junior year (Tuition - $150.00)

Traditional AM or PM session during Junior Year (2.5 hours per day)

Three weeks of summer school between Junior and Senior year (Tuition - $150.00)

Traditional PM session + Extended Day 11:20 am to 4:20 pm during Senior Year (5 hours per day)

Note: The Extended Day Session is for 2nd Year Cosmetology students ONLY and students must make arrangements for their own transportation.

2016 Career Night

Food, fun and demonstrations featuring:• Cosmetology - fantasy hair and makeup demonstrations &

competition• Culinary Arts - samples of assorted culinary student creations• Engineering & Emerging Technologies - mechatronics, welding &

fabrication, machining technology, C.N.C., robots, microbots • Health Sciences - mini-health screening, including blood pressure,

pulse, height and weight • Robotics - live demonstration of our OCCRA and FIRST robots

In addition to the “walk-through” open house between 4:30-7:30 PM, teachers will provide more detailed specifi c information on their respective program at the following times:
