The American Chemical Society
Founded in 1876, the American Chemical Society (ACS) is the world’s largest scientific society with more than 160,000 members.
The mission of ACS is to encourage in the broadest and most liberal manner the advancement of the chemical enterprise and its practitioners.
ACS advances scholarly knowledge, provides professional service support, communicates with varied audiences, and is actively involved in the science, education, and public policy arenas.

ACS first published Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) in 1879. ACS currently publishes 33 journals with the 34th title coming next year.

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces is: Being launched with the goal of becoming the international
publication of choice for the interdisciplinary community of chemists, engineers, physicists and biologists
Focusing on how newly-discovered materials and interfacial processes can be developed and used for specific applications.
A publication with full length articles and letters from researchers in academia and industry in addition to featuring comments and forums dedicated to advancing applied materials research.
An enhancement to the portfolio of existing ACS publications focusing on fundamental materials science discovery, including Chemistry of Materials, Langmuir, Biomacromolecules, Macromolecules and The Journal of Physical Chemistry B and C.

Introducing Steve Hansen
Graduated from Penn State University in 1990 with a degree in Polymer Science.
6 years as synthetic chemists for DuPont Agricultural Products in Newark, NJ where he focused on research on fungicides, herbicides and insecticides.
Steve participated in a target-site design group whose work with a crystal structure of the scytalone dehydratase enzyme to develop a fungicide for Rice Blast resulted in two granted US Patents (#7,135,585 and #7,205,331).
Introducing Steve Hansen
1996 to May 2008 Steve worked for Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS). He started as a field sales representative and grew to become the East USA Regional Manager. Steve’s customer base for CAS is highlighted by all BIG Pharma companies as well as the US Patent Office.
In May 2008 Steve joined ACS Publications Division as the Government Account Manager for the USA and Canada.
September 2008 Steve takes on the additional responsibility of Manager for the Latin American and Caribbean Region.
Steve will manage all sales and marketing activities for ACS Publications in the region.
ACS Publications will continue to rely on Systems Link international as our value added representative for the region.
ACS Publications will allow orders through EBSCO as an authorized subscription agent in the region.
Marcello Bomfim is the ACS Publications Customer Service Representative for the region. He is located in Columbus, Ohio and has language skills in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
