The Men of the Tenth Inc. September 2012 Ozwald Boateng began working towards his goal in a studio on the Portobello Road, which he opened in 1991 at the age of 23. Over the next few years he developed his design philosophy. In 1994, he was the first tailor to present a collection on the Paris catwalk. At the end of 1994, Ozwald Boateng has opened his first store on Vigo Street, just off Savile Row, and became the youngest and first black tailor to have a store on the row. Over the past two decades Ozwald Boateng has reinterpreted the British art of bespoke tailoring. Traditional craftsmanship and innovation are corner stones of the House. Ozwald Boateng's iconic contemporary twist, refined fabrics and contemporary silhouettes offer a unique luxury experience to men of all generations. With the birth of the Savile Row House in 2007 designed by world famous architect David Adjaye, Ozwald Boateng has extended its bespoke expertise to semi-bespoke, ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories and luggage: a sophisticated journey through men's lifestyle. Last month I had the pleasure of visiting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and saw something that I will never forget. In the Hip-Hop section of the museum, there was a jacket that was worn by members of the legendary rap group Salt & Pepa. On the jacket there were the words, “Idol Maker” stitched in them. After seeing this jacket, I thought about how well prepared these women were to succeed. Moreover, these women knew they were going to be successful. These Grammy winners have sold millions of records and have been an influence to many people throughout the world.

In fact, the writing on Salt & Pepa’s jacket is a clear indication that you can accomplish your dreams if you plan ahead. There is an old saying that. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Salt & Pepa’s success is the result of having the vision and dedication to plan their success. Therefore, if we want to succeed or have success like Salt & Pepa, we need to design a blueprint for achieving it. Today, many students are not succeeding in life because they have not designed a plan. Without a plan, how can you achieve success? A plan consists of the ideas and task that you believe will help you achieve your goals. Moreover, a plan is a designed commitment to you. Salt & Pepa’s plan was to become idol makers and they are. What will yours be?
