It’s hard to believe that September is already here! The warm days will start to

get chilly and we will start wearing jackets and sweaters. Changes are in the air.

Sometimes I like this time of year, but other times I feel wistful and dread the

colder weather and the early darkness that always comes. It is during these times

that I turn to painting and find great comfort in the bright colors. Unleashing the creative side and

making projects pop with the many beautiful shades is comforting.

GCDA has an active Autumn coming up! The next meeting on Sunday, September 13, brings Keith

Maupin to pick up donations for the military, (Please check out the list of items on Peggy’s page!) and

he will stay and have lunch with us! Sandie Tieman will be teaching a cute snowman project. The fol-

lowing Saturday, September 19, is the seminar that Stephanie Hauser will be teaching. It is an ador-

able cat gourd, and we will be learning how to do new and exciting things to enhance projects! Octo-

December is the Christmas party!! Plan now to join the fun and come and paint with us!

Christmas Baskets & Ornaments Raffle

Melanie Wilmhoff

I hope to see a lot of Christmas Ornaments at the September meeting! You have September and October to get

your basket or ornaments turned in. As I said in the last newsletter, the club would really benefit from having the

baskets turned in earlier so we can show photos of the baskets as an aid to sell the Raffle tickets.

Speaking of raffle tickets, I have them ready for you to start selling. Please see me at the September meeting and

get a photo card (shown to the left) of the baskets I do have and some tickets to sell. If you’re not at the meeting

and need tickets, please contact me so I can get some to you.

Just a reminder that Keith Maupin will be attending our Sept. meeting to pick up the donated items for the

Yellow Ribbon Support Project. Please bring your donations to the meeting in an easy-to-carry box. Keith

will have lunch with us and maybe talk a little about his service to our Military.

Also, Robert from Star Fire Council was unable to make our July meeting. He plans to attend our Octo-

ber meeting and help us paint the rest of the walker bags. He will then take them to the nursing home

where he works.

As requested, below is a list of items that can be donated to the Yellow Ribbon Support Project. Remem-

ber we are trying to stay away from perishable items. Thanks for your generosity!

Thirty one ladies met in the early morning of August 6th to board the bus at the first pick up location bound

for Columbus and the HOOT Trade Show. We made 2 more stops and arrived just as the show opened to the

public, and were greeted by ladies of HOOT’s welcoming committee. We spent the day looking, learning and

buying. Just about the time when our legs and feet were crying, we packed our goodies in the bus and then

enjoyed dinner at Ruby Tuesday’s Restaurant in Grove City. Thanks to Mary Ann Slizewski for helping

with snacks and taking care of us as the bus was moving.

We all had great fun during the bus ride. I think it was Anne who was caught locking a few gals in the rest

room, maybe it was Mary leading the singing, and there were several in the back of the bus being a bit

unruly. What great fun we all had. Too bad you missed the fun…..maybe you can join us next year.

Alice

Editor’s note:

This year for the GCDA bus trip to the HOOT trade show,

Paparazzi were prohibited from entering the interior of the bus to

take photos of the riders and their antics.

To further protect the privacy of the riders, only

exterior shots of the bus from a distance of 6 yards were allowed.
