This is my last NAWIC President's message. I've been involved in NAWIC for 16 years now and I've made a lot of friends and travelled to places I probably will never go again. I'm sad to be leaving NAWIC and the opportunity to see all of your smiles at least once a month. I know that although I'm no longer going to be involved as a NAWIC mem-ber, I know that I can count on all of you as friends and that if I have a problem I can call on any one of you for support and answers to ques ons I may have and you can always call or email me and I will help in whatever way I can.
The opportunity to grow as a member of NAWIC is there for all who take the chance to grab it. I know I did and I don't regret it for one minute. I've heard a lot of speakers and learned so much that has helped me to be a be er co-worker and a be er person. Please sign up for commi ees and par cipate as that is one of the best ways to learn more about NAWIC and for NAWIC to help you achieve some of your life's goals. The NAWIC ladies are always there to lend a hand through moral support during tough mes, guidance at work with something you may be not so sure about and they can provide a smile or a hug whenever you may need it.
I know that Dawn and Robin are already working hard to make this next year an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all of you. They're already planning speakers and ac vi es for all of you. I know all of you will work well with Dawn and Robin as they help the Salem Chapter of NAWIC grow.
I will miss all of you!!

My name is Sarah DeBrito I have worked for Withers Lumber a total of 11 years. During my years with the company I have held several positions. I started as a corporate assistant in 2004 and was then moved to the Brooks yard to be a yard level bookkeeper. I was shifted to a sales assistant in 2005 and was in the inside support for John Gooley and Tim Mametieff until 2008. In 2010 I returned to the company when we opened the Molalla yard and became the assistant manager there until 2012. I am now doing the accounting for the company; accounts payable, payroll, and financial statements. I recently got married on July 30th. When I am not working my husband and I enjoy outdoor activities; camping, hiking, and hunting. We have two Labradors that enjoy all these activities with us. We love the outdoors so much we actually went camping on our honeymoon.

This arrogant young guy has recently started work at a construction site and ever since he started he’s been bragging that he could outdo anyone based on his superior strength. He’s been making fun of one of the older workmen in particular. Eventually, the older worker has had enough and says, “Tell you what – why don’t you put your money where your mouth is? I’ll bet you a week’s wages that I can take something over to that other building in this wheelbarrow and you won’t be able to wheel it back.” The young guy laughs confidently, “You’re on, old man. Let’s see what you’ve got.” So the old guy grabs the wheelbarrow by the handles. Then, he nods to the young man as he says with a smile, “Alright. Get in.”
