B.I. BLAST September 2016
Sending warm farewell wishes to Deb Charyna
in her new job at Saugeen First Nation!
Deb was with Temagami First Nation for almost 11 years and now
has moved on to a new HR position with Saugeen First Nation. Deb
originally started out as a relief worker at the Daycare in October
2005, as well as assisting at the Family Healing and Wellness. In
November 2005 she was hired as the Communications Officer with the TAA Negotia-
tion Team until January 2007 where she was seconded to do a Mat Leave at the
LMLC for one year. In 2008 she started at the Band Office in the HR role and was
there for almost 8 years. Deb says “It was a great experience with Temagami First
Nation and I do hope we will work together again in the future”. Good Luck Deb!!
Welcome Jamie Friday as the new Secretary/Membership Clerk!
I wanted to take the time to introduce myself as the new Secretary/
Membership Clerk for Temagami First Nation. I started in my position
on August 29th and have since been getting in the swing of things,
training, and getting comfortable in my new position. I’ve been back
in the community for the past couples years with my children Emily,
Brianna, and Adonis, who attend the Laura McKenzie Learning Centre
and Timiskaming District Secondary School. I have worked with the Lands &
Resources Department, as administrative support, and under the n’Daki Menan
mapping project as a researcher. I look forward to working with all members, staff,
and community residents in the future. I can be reached at 705-237-8943 or by
email at [email protected]

A big THANK YOU to the
TFN and Local camps for
sponsoring 18 children to
go to camp this summer.
How lucky they are to be
able to attend these
great local camps right
here on Lake Temagami
and create some great
friends and lifelong mem-
ories. Some of their best
memories are going to
camp, and a bonus is
gaining confidence and
learning new skills!

The Birch Bark Canoe build
of 2016 is now complete, the
canoe is named Mukwa
Jiimaan (Bear Canoe) The
name comes from the fact
that the Birch Bark has Bear
Claw marks on the bark from
when the tree was standing,
Mukwa Jiimaan went on its
first trip to Obabika Lake!
