Meeting Commenced: 8.05 pm Held at: Girl Guides Hall Erin Street Queanbeyan Attendance: 35 members Apologies: noted Visitors: Patrick Hawke Guest speaker : No guest speaker due to AGM and award presen-tations President’s Report: President welcomed members to the last meeting at which he will be the President. In accordance with the club’s Constitution he cannot be elected to a third term in this posi-tion. Minutes of previous meeting Minutes of the July Meeting published in the August edition of The Wheel. Moved acceptance by Lawrie Nock Seconded Allan Boyd carried Treasurer’s Report: Current funds available $11732 including term deposit of $7924. Number of financial members is 84 with about 20 renewals still outstanding. Reimbursement sought for the following: Secretary for membership badges $ 55 , reimbursement for stamps and stationery for publications committee $330, Signflair for trophies $166, Homestead Press for publication of newsletter as per standing approval $319 . At 7pm we all met at the Diamond Restaurant for a fabulous Chinese meal. We welcomed two new members, Tina and Ian Oliver. We con-gratulated Geoff Rudd for taking up the vacant AGM position of Club President.
We wished Jane a happy and safe trip to America . Upon her return we are sure Jane will have some stories to share with us.

Clarendon Classic Rally
September 16th & 17th, 2017 Set up all day Friday, from 8am

We can now announce that in conjunction with Lachlan Valley Rail-way, steam trains will be running from Richmond to Mulgrave and return about every hour on both days of our rally. This is being provided by the Lachlan Valley Railway Association, the steam trains being used by this
group over the weekend are, 32 (3237) or 59 (5917) class steam locomotives with 1 Diesel Engine. Anyone wanting to have a nostalgic steam train ride is urged to book early. Look on our Web Site Page, Steam Train Online Book-
ings. Bookings are from 1st August until sold out. Vintage Double Decker Buses
Double Decker Bus Rides will be operating over the 2 days, linking the Richmond Station and the Machinery Show. Minimum Gold coin donation

STHARC ANNUAL
AWARDS This year our annual awards were held in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting, unfortunately 3 award recipients were unavailable to attend. The awards were presented during General Business and the category winners were: Presidents Choice (sponsored by Motor Spares): Pam Corbett Editors Choice (sponsored by Lion Battery): Christine Brown Commitment Award (sponsored by Summit Health Physio): John Ka-zamarek, not available. Restoration of the Year (sponsored by Electroplating Technology): Joe and Maureen Vavra. Most Attendance and winner of the perpetual shield (sponsored by Seif-fert Automotive): Graham Bates, not available. And this year’s Club Person of The Year and winner of the Perpetual Allan Claude Amey Memorial Shield (sponsored by Gary and Roz Hatch) was Pauline Campbell, also not available. At the end of the Annual General Meeting, a celebratory supper was enjoyed by all those who attended.

Editor: Editor is always looking for additional reports and articles for
The Wheel.
Website: Club news, and details about events are loaded onto STHARC
website as they become available.
Registrar: 3 new registrations on club plates Falcon, Valiant S and a

ACT Council Delegate unable to locate written report before meeting.
Council of Heritage Motor Clubs: nothing significant to report
Events:
Details of events are loaded onto STHARC website as they become
available. Chris Forsey advised the meeting of the St Paul’s 150th
anniversary celebration on 9 September, at which STHARC members
have been invited to display cars. Details will be on the website and in
the events calendar.
Forthcoming events :
STHARC is one of the hosts for Terribly British Day to be held on 3
December.
The Pavilion at the Hall recreation ground has been booked for the

STHARC Christmas Party to be held on Sunday 10 December 2017. It is hoped that a working group will be formed to plan and deliver this event for members. Some volunteers are needed. Other forthcoming events in August/September/October are notified on the club website and when possible in the newsletter. General Business: Membership renewals are now due. Members who are not financial should not use club plated cars which are registered through STHARC, as they are technically unregistered if the owner is not a financial mem-ber of the club. Members are reminded to include their name as a refer-ence if paying by EFT. Hazel advised that some of the proceeds from the manning of the Driv-er /Reviver centre in July have been distributed to STHARC totalling over $300. A message has been received from RMS seeking comment on the 60 day log book trial which ends in October. Members present gave over-whelming support for the continuation of the 60 day arrangements. The ability with which the present one page can be falsely produced was mentioned and the need for a good quality log book was agreed. The Secretary is to respond to the RMS on this matter. Annual Awards Presentation In previous years the annual awards presentation has been conducted at a separate function. The amount of work needed and the cost risk factors in running this event have resulted in the decision to hold the presentation at the AGM. The success of the monthly social dinner gatherings provides members wishing to have a night out with fellow club members to do so. The awards were presented by the sponsors where possible. President’s choice award sponsored by Motor Spares, went to Pam Corbett for her behind the scenes work in maintaining the club’s mem-bership base and supporting the Club Registrar Editor’s Choice award sponsored by Lion Batteries was presented by Rosemary Thomas to Christine Brown Commitment Award, sponsored by Lion Batteries went to John Kacz-marek Restoration of the Year Award sponsored by Electroplating Technolo-gy, went to Joe and Maureen Vavra for their classic caravan Perpetual trophies went to Most Attendance sponsored by Seiffert Automotive, went to Graham Bates continued on page 13

Return to general business . Annual General Meeting: At the AGM all positions become vacant.
An election of office bearers will be held at the meeting. Several of the
existing office bearers have indicated their willingness to stand for elec-
tion again to their existing positions. The club has been advised by
members that most of the eligible office bearers are available for re-
election. Apart from the position of President, the current committee
has been advised that there are members prepared to accept election
to all of the other office bearer positions. The meeting was adjourned
to hold the AGM.

Resumption of monthly meeting
New Vice President Joe Vavra, thanked members for their support at
the AGM and resumed the August Meeting. He advised that there is a
guest speaker for the September meeting. No other general business

STHARC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 1 August 2017 Meeting held at Girl Guides Hall Erin Street Queanbeyan Meeting commenced 8.30 pm Meeting attended by 35 members Apologies noted in attendance book Opening of meeting: The meeting was opened by the President Mal-colm Stewart Minutes of 2015 AGM: Acceptance of the minutes of the 2016 meet-ing as published in the Wheel of September 2016 and August 2017 was sought. Acceptance moved by Lawrie Nock seconded by Keith Bateman accepted. President’s Report by Malcolm Stewart Vice President’s Report – no report proposed Treasurer’s Report by Brian Thomas The Treasurer’s report was published in the August edition of the Wheel. The club remains in a strong and sustainable financial posi-tion. The deficit in 2016/2017 arose from the need to acquire comput-er equipment to facilitate publication of the Wheel. The editor noted that the computer equipment is not noted in the club’s balance sheet. The addition of this asset was noted and the report will be amended. It was moved that the report as amended be approved. Acceptance Moved Brian Thomas Seconded Jane Nock accepted Secretary’s Report by Lawrie Nock The influx of new members driven at least partly by the introduction of the 60 log book trial in NSW has continued. The club now has more than 100 members. Last year at this time we were wishing our friend Ian McLeish all the best for his recovery. We were saddened by his passing late last year. We have lost some other members but not from the historic motoring movement. While it is regrettable when mem-bers leave the club it is less of a loss when they have merely moved to another club whose interests more closely match those of the member concerned as has happened in some cases this year The club has operated throughout the year without anyone formally filling the role of Events Director. The willingness of John Kaczmarek to accept the role as spokesman for the Events Committee made plan-ning and communication to the membership of our events

program possible. The increasing uptake by members of email and web access has improved the effectiveness and timeliness of communications with members. Regular emailings to advise of club matters seems to work well. Several members have advised that they have found these messages helpful. Any members who find such communications unhelp-ful should let the Secretary know so the mailing list can be amended. Registrar’s Report by John Corbett. The Registrar emphasised the need for members to provide him with copies of the registration papers for all cars on H plates. It is a requirement of the registration that such papers be held by the Registrar and if they are not held the registration is techni-cally invalid. Editor’s Report by Rosemary Thomas. This year has been a learning curve and challenge. The purchase of new equipment and internet ac-cess has helped greatly. All copies of The Wheel are now stored on a portable hard drive and a manual of procedures has been produced for future editors. The biggest problems this year has been the lack of arti-cles for the cover story each month and the lack of member profiles. A big thank you to all those who have submitted items this past year, especially Malcolm Roxburgh, Malcolm Stewart and Jane Nock. Webmaster’s report by Malcolm Roxburgh. The club’s website is a most important tool for members to remain up to date on coming events and changes to them, as well as providing an opportunity to reminiscence over past outings. The website contains a library of previous issues of The Wheel and other photos that have not appeared in print. An examina-tion of website stats so far this year show over 1400 visitors with over 5000 views from more than 50 countries including 15 views from Uzbeki-stan, but we know who that is. I urge you to look at the web Club Events page and the Club News and Information page at least once a week to remain abreast of changes. Property Officer’s Report by Ray Malam. The club has a range of club specific apparel items available for members. Events Director’s Report The fact that he position of Events Director had not been filled at the 2016 AGM was noted. During the year mem-bers of the events committee and in particular John Kaczmarek have stepped in to help fill the void. During the year there was a good range of club events for members to enjoy. New initiatives introduced by the current Events Committee mem-bers have been well attended by members throughout the year. The club has a nominee to fill this position for the forthcoming year.

election of office bearers for 2017/2018 to the Presiding Officer for the election, Allan Boyd. The Presiding Officer outlined the process for the filling of vacancies. The meeting was advised that no formal nominations have been re-ceived for the filling of Committee of Management positions and that therefore all positions are open for nomination by members present at the meeting. Any member interested in being elected to any of the Committee of Management positions was invited to nominate. President: There was no-one present at the meeting who was willing to accept nomination for the position of President and the position was declared vacant to be filled as a casual vacancy. Vice President: Joe Vavra has advised that he is willing to stand for the position of Vice President. Nominated by Pam Corbett, seconded by Lawrie Nock and accepted by Joe. No other nominations were re-ceived. The nomination was and put to the vote and accepted by the meeting. Treasurer:Brian Thomas has indicated his willingness to continue in the role as Treasurer. Appointment of members to other roles: There are several other office bearer positions which do not require holders to be elected at the AGM. It is usual practice for STHARC to fill these positions at the AGM. Although there is no formal need for the holders of these positions to be elected it was suggested that the opportunity to fill the positions as part of the AGM and have member’s acceptance of the proposed office bear-ers was one which should be taken. Bush Council Representatives :The current delegates have agreed to continue in this role. The AGM accepted the appointment of Allan Boyd and John Corbett as STHARC delegates to CHMC and Christine Hill-brick-Boyd as an alternate delegate. CACTMC Representatives: Jeff Gill has agreed continue in the role as STHARC Delegate to CACTMC. Lawrie Nock has agreed to be the al-ternate Delegate. The AGM accepted the appointment of Jeff Gill as the delegate and Lawrie Nock as the alternate delegate Public Officer: The role of Public Officer is an appointment by the Committee of Management. St Paul's Anglican Church - Field Day
9 September 2017
A field day will be held on the grounds of St Paul's Anglican Church, located on the Old Cooma Road, Googong (near the Mount Campbell Estate) on Saturday 9 September 2017.
We have been invited to provide a display of classic vehicles. Stall holders will include agriculture and farm machinery, art and craft stalls. The local fire ser-vice and other community groups will be in attendance - a fun day for all the community! The field day is part of a range of activities to celebrate 150 years of St Paul's.
It would be helpful if you could let me know in advance if you are planning to attend as this will ensure that we allocate enough space.

Manning of Driver/Reviver centre
Lake George 15-16July 2017 STHARC usually takes on the manning of the Wheatley VC Driver/Reviver centre at Lake George a couple of time each winter. This event is facilitated and largely managed by Hazel and Malcolm Roxburgh.
STHARC’s participation provides an opportunity for STHARC members to share their interest with other motorists while encouraging those trav-ellers to take a break from the driving and enjoy some fresh air. During winter that air can be a little fresher than one would wish. The outlook over the dry Lake George basin to the wind turbines between Bungen-dore and Tarago is a pleasant one to share with other motorists who call in.
Hazel opened the centre up each morning. Club members called in throughout the day to share their vehicles and company with fellow mo-torists. There was a good roll up on Saturday providing an interesting range of vehicles for the travelling public to inspect. We were in 'convoy' with Paul’s T model Ford, on Long Gully Lane and the Federal Highway. It was
great to see, I'm sure Paul got a lot of thumbs up along the way. Saturday’s weather was not very welcoming but that didn’t stop some members. Sunday did not let out its secret until late morning. By the time Tony and Christine arrived with the Mustang the fog had largely disappeared and the skies remained blue throughout the day. We had an interesting mix of members of the travelling public come to inspect the cars and their being on display clearly did the job of encouraging some people to take that break from the driving and get out of the car for a walk around.

Ladies’ Morning Tea Friday

We had a good attendance of eleven ladies at our July morning tea, held at Ktb’s Kitchen at Queanbeyan, with everyone in a chatty mood.
Hopefully, the crafty ladies took the opportunity to visit Spotlight next door, to stock up on their craft needs while the sale was on.

Just a reminder that as the NOVEMBER morning tea is our last for 2017, we will be going to the Federal Golf Club at Red Hill.
If people are interested in staying on for lunch, I can organise a table. A combined ladies and gents morning tea/lunch at this venue would be a fitting finale for the morning tea season.

The Committee of management members present agreed to her ap-pointment as Public Officer. The appointment was supported by mem-bers present at the AGM. Vehicle inspector:The AGM accepted the appointment of Albert Neuss Publications Committee: Ronda and John Cornwell, Geoff Rudd, Krystyna McLeish and Jane Nock. The members of the Publications Committee have indicated their willingness to continue as members of that committee. Events Committee : members willing to be involved in the planning of events were invited to contact the newly elected Events Director. Max advised that Phillip Selmes has already indicated his willingness to be a member of the committee. David Torricke-Barton was the only member of the previous committee present and indicated a willingness to contin-ue on the committee. The Presiding Officer handed the control of the meeting back to the in-coming Committee. In the absence of a President the Vice President took the chair and thanked the outgoing Committee and Office Bearers and welcomed the incoming occupants. General Business Members were asked to reconsider their capacity to take on the position of President. Meeting Closure The meeting closed at 9.20pm for resumption of the August Monthly General Meeting.
