  • The Social Justice Department - benevolence ministry is appealing for food donations in order to meet the overwhelming need for food relief. The environment we minister to, is largely composed of individuals and families who rely on casual labor and small businesses for their daily upkeep. Following the post-election violence that erupted in Kibra, many lost their small businesses and opportunities for casual labor and their livelihoods were adversely affected.

Through the social enterprise ministry we are able to equip them with skills and enable them to access finance for startups, but this has also been greatly affected by the prevailing political

uncertainty. We have continued to provide food to these families as an entry point to allow them experience the love of Christ and plant the seed of hope . For us to effectively meet the needs our food pantry needs to be constantly supplied with food varieties whether perishable or non-perishable.

At the beginning of this month our safe house became operational. There are two families being housed there at the moment with seven children between them. We are providing them with food while the mothers recover and secure jobs. We are expecting more children when the schools close so any food we can get will go along way.

  • We always thank God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and

of the love you have for all Gods people – Colossians 1:3-4

    25th September to 1st October 2017

Monday: The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has held consultative meetings with stakeholders designed to build confidence and streamline all areas of the election process. Please pray that all these consultations will bear positive fruits and that we will have a peaceful and just presidential election. Thank God for all the commissioners and staff as they offer sacrificial leadership that they continue to offer this country at this time. Thank God for the hardworking Kenyans who are working behind the scenes to ensure the success of the repeat election. Also pray for consensus among our political leaders with the possible change of election dates due to request for more time to prepare the systems for the fresh elections.

Tuesday: Thank God for a united Kenya and for all the people that make Kenya very unique in every aspect of society. It is worth noting that when Kenya goes through difficult times, there is intentional effort from within to unite us as a country. Please pray that for every meeting held that is enhancing unity through close collaborations between

political and religious leaders aimed at cultivating inter-ethnic and inter-racial neighborliness, we will realize the goal of nationhood. Please pray that all their efforts will bear fruit and that Kenya will one day be: one people, one tribe and one nation. Please pray for wisdom as the multi-sectoral challenges are addressed and that the politics of the day will not affect the economic, governance, education and technological sectors.

Wednesday: Thank God for the technological advancement and revolution in place to handle our general elections. Kenya was the first in the world to successfully operate mobile money, commonly known as Mpesa. We too, are among the first to automate the electoral identification and transmission of electoral results in Africa. Thank God for the many leaps and bounds we have made in our I.C.T sector and more specifically the laws and policies that have been made so far. Please pray that this technological advancements will continually place us on the global map for positive reasons. Continue to pray that our country will maintain that creative space for all the brilliant innovative minds

among our youth and that all the talent around us will be well managed for the benefit of the country.

Thursday: Kenya is said to have an increasingly well educated population of skilled and semi-skilled youth who have joined the informal sector. This makes Kenya a cheap source of labor that is being used by multinationals. Please thank God for our innovations that we use to resolve various problems we face in the agricultural, energy and technological sectors and which have gained international recognition. Also thank God for the organizations and institutions that are incubating talent and ideas such us the Intellectual Property Technology Innovations- “iHub” and the Kenya Industrial Property Institute- K.I.P.I. Pray that the gains we have made in this area will be maintained and further enhanced to keep the hope of the youth alive and Kenya on the global map.

Friday: Kenya is said to be the bustling country and the gateway to one of the world’s most inspiring and exciting travel destinations with a coastline on the Indian Ocean. It encompasses Savannah, lake lands, the Great Rift Valley and mountain highlands. It’s also home to wildlife like lions, elephants and rhinos. From Nairobi, the capital, tourists visit the Masai Mara Reserve, known for its annual wildebeest migrations. Thank God for the tremendous recourses in foreign exchange that have benefited communities around these attractions and the country at large. This is God’s gift of mercy and grace, not earned nor deserved. Ask Him to give us wisdom in managing the national assets

and heritage for posterity so that the generations to come will also marvel at the wonders of his grace.

Saturday: Over the last 2 decades, the media and arts industry in Kenya has grown astronomically and thus professionals can earn revenues both locally and abroad. Once again this is another aspect we as Kenyans can thank God for - the gifts and ingenious talent He has given us. The media and arts are currently a very popular enterprise that enjoys heavy investment and reasonable returns. The youth in this country have seriously taken this as a possible career path. Please pray that the political environment will not destabilize this trajectory growth and other sectors that are benefiting from the growth and development.

Sunday: Thank God for our current sermon series on the book of Jonah themed “#IAmJonah” which has brought out the truth of our disingenuous repentance and hardness of heart as a people. Please continue to pray for Pastor Christian Lwanda as he continues to preach for the next two Sundays. Ask God to help us to understand His great love, mercy and grace for us as a Kenyan people. Pray that our hearts will be turned to Godly sorrow and repentance as opposed to surface, shallow and emotional responses that do not have long term impact. Ask him to forgive us for the stereotypes we hold against one another, mindsets and the wrong attitudes we have displayed especially during this season of the general elections.
