O sing joyfully unto God our strength; make a cheerful noise unto the God of Jacob. Take the song, bring hither the tabret, the merry harp with the lute. Offering - So let us not grow weary of doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith. (Galatians 6: 9-10)

Anthem – Lauds George Dyson

Ye that have spent the silent night in sleep and quiet rest, And joy to see the light that riseth in the east; Now lift your hearts, your voices raise, your morning tribute bring And pay a grateful song of praise to heaven’s almighty King. And as this gloomy night did last but for a little space; As heav’nly day doth show his pleasant face; So let us hope, when faith and love their work on earth have done,

God’s blessed face to see above, heaven’s better, brighter Sun.

THERE IS A REDEEMER

There is a Redeemer, Jesus, God’s own Son,

Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Holy One.

Thank you, O my Father, for giving us your Son,

and leaving your Spirit till the work on earth is done.

Jesus, my Redeemer, name above all names,

Precious Son of God, Messiah, Lamb for sinner

slain.

Thank you, O my Father, for giving us your Son,

and leaving your Spirit till the work on earth is done.

When I stand in Glory I will see His face,

And there I’ll serve my King forever in that holy

place.

Thank you, O my Father, for giving us your Son,

and leaving your Spirit till the work on earth is done

Processional Hymn 216 – Praise to the Holiest (Richmond 255)

Call to Worship Rev. Dale Rose

Introit—Psalm 121 chant: H. Walford Davies

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, O whence cometh my help? My help cometh even from the Lord, who hath made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved, and he that keepeth thee will not sleep. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord himself is thy keeper; the Lord is thy defence upon thy right hand, So that the sun shall not burn thee by day, neither the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil. Yea, it is even he that shall keep thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in, from this time forth for ever more. Gloria

Announcements & Offering

Anthem – Jesus Christ, the apple tree Elizabeth Poston

The tree of life my soul hath seen, laden with fruit and always green; The trees of nature fruitless be compared with Christ the apple tree. His beauty doth all things excel, by faith I know, but ne’er can tell, The glory which I now can see in Jesus Christ the apple tree. For happiness I long have sought, and pleasure dearly I have bought, I missed of all; but now I see ‘tis found in Christ the apple tree. I’m weary with my former toil, here I will sit and rest awhile, Under the shadow I will be of Jesus Christ the apple tree. This fruit doth make my soul to thrive, it keeps my dying faith alive, Which makes my soul in haste to be with Jesus Christ the apple tree.

Prayer of Dedication Rev. Dale Rose

Hymn 592 – Breathe on me breath of God (Trentham)

Sermon: “INTO THE STORM” Rev. Dr. J. Peter Holmes

Hymn 416 – Jesus calls us (St. Oswald 141)

Benediction Rev. Dr. J. Peter Holmes

Choral Amen (Darke) Choir Recessional - Nunc Dimittis with Antiphon (Mode III.4, chant C.M. Palmer)

Save us, O Lord, while waking, and guard us while sleeping; that awake we may watch with Thee, and asleep we may rest in peace. Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word; for mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; to be a light to lighten the Gentiles, and to be the glory of thy people Israel. Gloria.
