Alumni Spotlight- Serena Schiller ’96, Marquette’s 1st Ever Homecoming Queen
• Danced for Mystique and ran track; Held 200 yard dash record for many years and competed at State
• Graduated from Mount Holyoke with a degree in American Studies and a minor in German Studies. Studied in Germany
• Earned her Master’s Degree in City Planning from UC-Berkeley
• Since 2000 has been living in San Francisco and working in the Bay Area affordable housing industry
• Director of Real Estate Development for San Francisco’s largest provider of permanent supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness.
• Words of advice for students- “I was rejected from Harvard and MIT for grad school and only accepted to UC-Berkeley after being waitlisted for several months. I hung those rejections on my fridge because it takes guts to even apply. One of my biggest life lessons is that rejection builds character and creates experiences in life that we could never have imagined had we planned it ourselves.”

▪ All Fines must be paid BEFORE September 23.
