Train the Trainer session
How Data Director can assist in maintenance of assessment and intervention data and how to analyze the data to help in the REED process
To understand the legal requirements and protocol/components of the REED process
The requirements for determining eligibility for SLD
What your next steps will be following this training
• Have everyone share one or two hopes and fears
• Combine any that are similar
• Report out to larger group
In 2004, IDEA was reauthorized mandating states to make enhancements/changes to:How we intervene with students prior to a SE
referral for evaluation (SIDR process), How we determine students eligible as
Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD),How we analyze existing evaluation data when
developing an evaluation plan (REED) In 2009, Michigan developed criteria for
these processes and mandated that LEAs develop procedures to align with these requirements
Once Michigan disseminated the new criteria, we: changed the REED process within the
Illuminate system to align, andDevelop a committee to establish a SLD
guideline document All districts will implement these
procedures during the 2010-11 sy and beyond
Calhoun DCIA and DSE have combined their efforts to help sustain these procedures and develop a framework for districts to implement these processes
The Student Intervention Data Review (SIDR) process. Since: This is a multifaceted process (Tiered Intervention) The CISD RtI committee had developed a proposal Mandated by Specific Learning Disabilities evaluation process
We need to take time to establish a framework and supports to help districts implement this process.
CISD DCIA and DSE are working together
This is an enhancement to Child Study Team process Very data driven Mandated for Specific Learning Disabilities evaluation process Best practice Process not a form but documentation is key Intervention driven Aligns with the CISD Literacy Position Paper Each district will identify a team to be trained and will conduct
trainings with your district DCIA and DSE will be providing support within each LEA
Tim Hall will be training us on resources and data analysis process available for districts to assist with this process
The REED and SLD are data rich processes
Use of these data systems must be used by teams as they work through the processes
As you train staff/admin back in your district, you will want to train on data collection and analysis
Karen, Julia and Kristin will walk us through the SLD guideline requirements
This process replaces the discrepancy model and must be implemented by every district
Each district publicly posted how they will determine SLD within their district (by Sept 1st)
Eligibility can be done via RtI or PSW models. Since districts within CISD do not have a RtI process established, all districts will use the PSW model.
Each year the method (RtI or PSW) will be reviewed for each district

Jennifer, Jen and I will review the REED process
Replaces the initial and reevaluation process Completed every 36 months after initial
evaluation A report in Data Director is being created
that aligns with the REED Process of reviewing existing data Illuminate SE (formerly FOCUS) has aligned to
these new requirements Allows for attachments of assessments, reports,
other documentation Interfaces, Referral, Eval Plan, Consent form, and
Eval Log Determines whether a MET is necessary

Out of state transfers These must be considered initials Must review eligibility criteria from the previous
state and must complete an out of state initial REED
Must be done within 30 school days from transfer in date or an extension must be sought
If data missing from previous state, during the evaluation process, GE may be implement interventions and progress monitor
Parent requests Talk with the parents to explain the SIDR
process As part of the evaluation process GE will
implement interventions and progress monitor
Your district team will go back to your district and train all GE and SE teachers, Principals, other support staff on the SLD and REED process
As we develop more about the SIDR process, we will be sharing this data with you
All these documents will be put on the CISD shared drive this week that the supervisors can access
Use the presentations ppts and activities during your trainings
