Mercantilism• It’s all about the Benjamins.• Country’s ultimate goal is to make money from their colonies• Colonies find anyway they can to make

money:o New England- fishing, shipbuilding, lumber, livestocko Middle- food, trade/merchants, shipbuildingo Southern- cash crops

• Navigation Acts- colonies can’t sell stuff to other countries without going through England first (England

• has to make money from it!)

Crackdown on Massachusetts

Massachusetts colony wasn’t following the rules and continued to smuggle goods to and from other countries….. England gets mad and King Charles revokes their charter- makes Massachusetts a royal colony under the Kings rule.SO…..1. Massachusetts is no longer a “Puritan”
